Today I shopped. Lots of random little things I knew I needed, but I mostly stayed in town and finished (or started) a couple projects in the house. I started the morning at the frame shop in town, where I dropped off a couple things I wanted matted and a few things that needed 'finishing'. I didn't bring the larger paintings in the first time b/c I wasn't sure if they could do the finishing for me, but they could, so I went back to drop those off - and the first one was already ready for pickup when I came by! In between I stopped at the local garden store and bought 2 planters for the front steps, 2 mums, and a couple flats of half price cheap annuals to fill in my planter for the autumn. I had several things that were already 'standard size' so those I put aside for a Michael's trip (see later). After the local frame shop, I walked up and down the street checking out the little antique shops and asking about china, and also stopped in on the local jewelry store - who does appraisals - and talked to him about those... Then I stopped home again - picked up my jewelry - dropped those off... Then headed out to Cedar Rapids and Michael's to finish the framing project (except not really b/c the things I had matted will need frames too). But next door to Michael's was a Petco, so I now, finally, have fish in my fishtank. I started with 6 longfin leopard danios so I can finally get the tank cycling and really started. Halfway through conditioning the danios to my tank (which I added the plant gravel to finally) the jewelry store called to have me pickup my jewelry. Apparently my Grandmother's solitare isn't quite as colorless as the first appraisal determined, but it shouldn't affect the value that much - its still a 3/4 carat diamond. But he just took the measurements today, he'll finish the actual appraisal this next week but didn't need to keep my shinies that entire time.
So today I: Bought frames, bought plants, had my jewelry appraised, bought more frames, set up fishtank, put art into frames...
I'd like to actually *hang* some of the newly framed art, I probably need to twiddle with the fishtank some, but that's once the color clears (the plant medium turned the tank cloudy red for a while). And there is still pickup to do around the place. But some of the smaller projects to make the house 'mine' are finally in progress.
