I have had a pool my entire live. I started with the plastic pool when I was 10 months old. And finally in May of 1985 my parents bought me a 28 foot above ground pool. It was 3 feet deep on one end and 6 feet deep in the middle. This was my special place. I went there when I was upset, sad, or angry. Neither of my parents ever got in it so it was all mine. It was surrounded my trees. I don't think I can put into words what it was like to float around the pool with a book listening to the birds and watching dragonflies land on my toes. I gladly shared the pool with tree frogs. This pool was my favorite place in the whole world. Today I went to check on it and found this. The metal at the skimmer had rusted and weakened to the point it split. Without the metal to hold it the liner split and 20,000+ gallons of water rushed out. It also destroyed my pump and my filter. It is a total loss. I am so heartbroken. I spent my lunch hour every day in the pool. Because the deep end was below ground level it still had water in it. Alex got in to play.
