"It is morning," Rebecca said loudly from where she was burying her head in her pillow and trying to ignore the racket from the other side of the room. "What are you doing?"
Excuse her for not noticing the difference in Matt's voice yet. It was early, okay?
Okay, she was awake now, and springing out of bed to guard her closet in a surprisingly smooth sequence of motions. "Oh my god, you most certainly are not!"
Matt would have laughed but she was dealing with her own issues right now. Instead she was looking through her own clothes for something that would fit.
"Nice. Good to see you have your priorities in order," Matt snarked as she pulled out a pair of sweatpants. Maybe she could tie off the stings to fit her new waist. She'd deal with the breast thing in a minute. "Your kindness is duly noted."
"Those are going to look horrible on your hips," Rebecca informed Matt after a moment, because she was a helpful, considerate roommate. "Why are you a girl?"
"Yeah, well I left my yoga pants at home," Matt quipped as he pulled on the sweatpants. "And I have no clue why I'm a girl. I just am."
Later on in life Matt might wonder if this was Karma trying to teach him a lesson.
But for now he was more worried about the breast thing. Which wasn't much to speak of really. So he grabbed a fresh t-shirt and a sweatshirt. Hopefully that would be enough.
"Hopefully this is not permanent," he continued. "Or it's going to be a rather awkward conversation with my dad on parents weekend."
"Well, if it's perma-- oh my god, turn around when you change!" Rebecca shrieked, spinning around so as not to see the horrible, horrible Matt boobs because I modded the room layout, OKAY?
Matt pointlessly rolled her eyes and turned around as she slipped on her t-shirt which was way too big. "Don't you already have a pair?" she asked sardonically as she tied off her shirt to the side and started to put on her sweatshirt. "Give me a break. I've just turned into a girl. What's your excuse?"
"I'm normally a girl! And you're blind!" Though okay, fine, she would totally change in front of people who could actually see, it was true. Finally she huffed, glanced down at the sweater she had on, pulled it over her head, and tossed it less-than-gently at Matt. "Here. Keep it."
Excuse her for not noticing the difference in Matt's voice yet. It was early, okay?

This was so weird. But that wasn't going to stop Matt from antagonizing her roommate.
"Just go back to bed. I'm just going to go through your clothes and find something to wear."
That ought to wake her up.

"Thanks," she said grudgingly and then a little more gratefully: "I appreciate it. Sorry for waking you."

It was a reasonable segue, she felt.

Sorry, Matt.

True. She did get a sweater today. It was a small gesture but Matt might be hoping for more.
