Breastfeeding

Does it gross anyone else out when a woman whips out her boob in public to feed a baby? People say "Oh it's natural so it's ok." Blech. I don't want to see it. Or the women who pump their breastmilk at work. Do that sh*t at home ( Read more... )

I don't usually mind women breastfeeding in public as long as they're discreet about it. There's nothing worse than an entitlemoo boob nazi who dares anyone to trample on her rights blah blah. Pumping breastmilk at work? Yick. That kind of thing should be done in privacy; I'd hate to go visit her cube for something and have to see that. LOL.

That's why I could never breastfeed if I were ever to lose my mind and allow myself to have a child. My boobs are for my sweetie to play with. If I breastfed a child I could never feel the same about having my sweetie play with my boobs ever again.

Make sure you don't have oral sex. You'll never feel the same way about eating again.

Hypothetically if you did have a kid, your boobs would be out of commission for a few weeks anyway. They're really sensitive after giving birth. How do I know? My mom told me that when she had my sister, my dad was frustrated because her boobs were bigger than they had been since, well ever, and he couldn't play with them.

You are not alone. While breastfeeding is a natural act, so are sex and taking a crap--neither one of which I like to see in public.

Naw, I think I've been here nearly a year, but I had never read any discussions on breastfeeding before joining, and I gloss over a lot of the ones here since it's never been an issue for me. Plus, I live under a rock.

If they're trying to be subtle about it, breastfeeding in public wouldn't bother me much. The act is fine to me, but I'd be more embarrassed for the modesty of others who would not want to see a breast in public, not even for that (cultural or generational reasons, for example).

As for pumping at work? I'd ask if she could do it in the bathroom at least. I've never been around someone who has used a pump so I don't know how loud it is, but if it's anything like the slurping/sucking noises a child can produce, I wouldn't want that accidentally getting over the phone when talking with a customer.

but if you live in a place where going topless is legal then what would it matter?

Because the topless law is very restricted. You can't go topless on city property and you can't go topless in private places. So you're basically limited to your own private residence, including your yard.
