you should write a book about buying and moving into your flat a la under the tuscan sun.

that would be after you write about orli's tired nether regions, of course.

It could have an advice section which says things like 'EVEN if you're environmentally opposed to car ownership when living in large cities with good public transport, NEVER try to carry an eight-foot step-ladder home on the Underground during rush hour.'

yes! that sort of thing. unfortunate subway incident involving ladders and smelly punters feeling up your behind while you're rendered immobile. also long, languid descriptions of the abysmal deaths of your potted plants ... and instead of cooking, you make do with jars of olives and vietnamese take-away.

incidentally, why do you need an 8' ladder?

It's one floor of a Victorian house with very high ceilings - standing on a chair, even if we had a chair, doesn't get either of us anywhere near high enough to put in lightbulbs.
