47th Revolution: A holiday I never really celebrated

May 10, 2009 09:29

Humph, Mother's Day is today. I almost didn't realize it with everything that has been going on lately. I really don't remember celebrating this day at all while I was growing up. Maybe I did at one point. But it's still the same as not doing so if you can't remember at all, especially since from what I could recall, Riley and I were raised by our ( Read more... )

'Mother's Day.' This human construct... you deem it important?

If I had a reason to celebrate it, maybe.

Why?

Mother's Day is rather pointless to celebrate when you have no mother figure in your life.

It is pointless either way. Such ties of emotion, useless bonding... What purpose does it hold?

Emotions are a basic instinct that people want to embrace. No matter how much pain it may bring them.

Bonding is something which the majority doesn't see as useless. It's hard to describe to one who doesn't hold feelings in high regard to begin with.

To bond is to make connections and create possibilities. This kind of relation is too fleeting. It leaves room for nothing but eventual grief and suffering.

Yet humans embrace it.

It's true that it may be fleeting at times and may bring sorrow, but it's also true that some bonds can last beyond the veil of death and can inspire great amounts of joy.

And we'll continue to embrace it. To love and hate, to experience the joys and despair of life. That is the nature of the human race.

Bonds lasting beyond death... yes. I know of such bonds. They leave you stuck in the past, unable to move beyond them. The nature of the human race, then, is filling a collective void. Pathetic.

You burn out so quickly for lack of substance.

That's your view alone. A view which I believe is a fallacy in and of itself.

And since we're on the topic of natures, then what about your nature? What does it represent?

Being blind to the truth is a human fallacy. I care little for your flaws.

My nature...

My nature represents ambition. In its most tangible form.

And believing your truth is the only one, is yours. And like you, I could care less about yours.

Ambition, huh? Then I can see why you view humans as such. Our nature is a contradiction of your own most of the time.

For human beings, ambition is unnecessary. You barely set foot in the world before the putrid stench of your rotting shells pollutes its spheres.

My existence is coloured by achievement. It is an inherent craving and I suffer in its absence.
