I'm sick and tired of the right and left wing extremists like Michael Moore and Ann Coulter, who are tearing this country apart.. I'm tired the so-called "bleeding hearts" that spew hatred against Bush and the Republicans.. I'm tired of the nebbishy rebels without a cause saying that they'll move to Canada because our freedoms are being flushed

Look
If you look, beginning in the late 1920s the Nazi (National Socialist) party, with Hitler at the helm, began to accure more and more votes, largely by recruiting poor, ill-educated, rural voters. In 1932 there were 2 presidential elections, which were reasonably close, and the Reichstag elections also meant that the Nazi party had most of the seats in government (33%, versus 20%, 16%, 12%, 8% and other piffly numbers held by other parties). Because of this, Hindenburg was forced to offer to form a coalition government with Hitler. He thought he could control him, and hence Hitler was made chancellor. Then there was another election in 1933 where there were lots of naughty shenannigans of which you speak, and the Nazis managed to get 43% of the seats, which was de-facto a majority because the Nationalist party were basically on their side, and their seats as well pushed everything over 50%. Then in 1934 Hindenburg died and Hitler was left alone in charge.
I agree, no majority, and who knows what went on. However, it still nicely illustrates that just because a lot, or even most, people vote for something, that doesn't make it right.
About the name calling - I guess that some people vote for Bush because they are ignorant, and others because they are selfish shits. Ignorance is not a crime, it is a result of bad education, and perhaps even curable. You though, seem to have at least a basic education, hence you deserve them. Prove to me that you are noble, good, intelligent and kind and I will retract them.

furthermore, what determines right and wrong for itself? the majority does...
I'm not saying Liberals are idiots and that they should shut up.. I'm saying they should stay here and fight, not move to canada. And they shouldn't be as close-minded as you are, by assuming 51% of the country is ignorant, selfish idiots because they don't agree with their political philosophy. Most of my friends, (you'll notice it's the case on LJ too) are liberals and they will have an amicable argument with me on our personal political philosophies.. I know they want to understand where I'm coming from, but that's obviously not the case with you.
Prove to me that you are noble, good, intelligent and kind and I will retract them.
ok, I'll try... how about I'm not the one calling you names just because you're a liberal? lol
try and have a decent argument with me.. argue the points.. argue the philosophy.. try and understand where I'm coming from, refrain from your tactless namecalling and close-mindedness.. and let's be friends.. if you can't do that, then I'm asking you not to comment in my journal. thank you.

1. I disagree. Not calling me names does not prove that you are good and noble. You may just be calculating.
2. I do not think that Hitler was able to intimidate that many people early on, particularly when he only held 3%, or even 18%, of the vote, so many of the votes were sadly cast by free choice.
3. Even the majority may be wrong when it is misinformed and has grown up in a regrettable environment.
4. And off the point - The number of black people in the very reasonable white house has just gone down. I wonder why.
5. So OK. Did you vote Bush ? If so, tell me why please, and I will try to understand.

2. like in my first point, intimidation was how he achieved a monopoly on the reichstag.. and that's how he retained his power for 12 years
and also, in the 33 election, they received a few percentage points lower than what Kerry received.. and the percentage of the german population that didn't vote for the Nazis almost mirrors the percentage of people in this country that voted for Bush. it's not the best of all examples to argue with.. but I took the bait. thank god, I didn't get into the quasi-existential argument about WHY the Germans were "wrong".
3. anyone can be misinformed.. the left has misinformed the american public (and themselves) throughout the whole campaign.. "the patriot act allows authorities to search homes without any notification", "Bush's policies have encouraged the loss of nearly 3 million jobs.", "the economy is producing mostly low paying jobs", "Bush lied about the war in Iraq", "Bush has the worst economic record since Hoover",blah blah blah, etc. etc. etc.
Now before you get all uppity, the right produces just as many distortions as the left does.. but that's politics for ya... you can either believe them because all your friends do or because all the famous people do or you can think critically and make up your own damn mind. And that's what every voter is supposed to do.. Bush was right for the job, because the majority of the people thought he was better.. and it's the majority of people that determines what is "right" and "wrong"
4. Yeah, and Bush is replacing them with Mexicans.. god damn it.. NOW there goes the country.
5. Crap, I'm way too tired now to go into it, but I'll give you the jist: I like low taxes, I would like to LIVE for another 4 years, the economy is going well, we're in a war and I don't want feel comfortable changing presidents during wartime, because of the message it'll send to tour enemies.
I wasn't charmed by his opposition either; Kerry is a spineless populist who couldn't stand firmly on any position... aside from that, he wanted to raise the budgets on everything by only rescinding the Bush Tax Cuts (what kind of sense does that make?), his voting record hasn't shown an eagerness for national security. Quite simply, I didn't care for the man or his politics.
But if Lieberman or Clinton were running against Bush, it would be a very tough decision.
Don't get me wrong, Bush is not my ideal candidate (considering that I'm a liberal in the classical sense) but I do believe he's "right" at this moment..
