After much haggling with all of the bridal salon attendants, we finally managed to negotiate a deal in regards to my wedding dress. This is all a bunch of useless information, but I originally had ordered
this Stephen Yearick dress which looks just fine on the model but lo and behold, when the dress came in and I tried it on, I was utterly appaled. Not that Stephen Yearick isn't all the designer he's hyped up to be; just that that particular style was not the least bit flattering to my body type. (I have pictorial evidence but I'm feeling just kind enough to spare you tonight). Well, to make a long story short, it was ugly in the very beginning--VERY ugly. And I'm not even talking about the dress--I'm talking about my interaction with the store owner and her three unyielding minions. The whole squabble was obviously all about money and so-called 'policies'--and let's just say there was a point I was fixin' to call my lawyer right there in the store.
Then, by some miracle, I started trying on dresses and I found another Stephen Yearick I liked--not quite as expensive as the first, but roughly a grand more than our deposit on the original. To my good fortune and dismay, the owner agreed to let us have the dress minus the unrefundable deposit we owed. Same went for a slightly more affordable veil I found to replace the $1000 custom Yearick veil I'd originally ordered. After about three hours, I can gladly say that everyone left (or stayed) feeling completely happy that no one had gotten screwed in this deal.
So anyway here are a couple of photos of my dress trial. Please excuse the unpolished look--I am completely makeupless save for a couple quick strokes of smudged eyeliner, and my hair had not even been brushed at the time these photos were taken. (It was just one of those "I don't give a fuck" days.) ALSO, and much MORE IMPORTANTLY, keep in mind that the dress is one size too large and I am having to hold it both in front and back in order for it to look somewhat like the way it will look once it is taken in, bustled, and hemmed.
Otherwise, here it is. (I tell you, it's a strange feeling owning it now. It all suddenly just feels so final.)
