So, I decided to play Overwatch

For whatever reason, yesterday I decided to get Overwatch for the PC (since I don't have a PS4 and don't intend on getting one for now). I wasn't actually planning the game because time is not a resource I have plentiful. However, the game looked so good that I just thought "meh, why the hell not?".

Turns out the game is awfully fun.

I'm he kind of person who actually enjoys playing as a support character, so I was thinking about playing as one of the support characters since the game's announcement. At first I thought it would be interesting to play as a character who had both healing and attack balance. So, my first character of choice was - guess who - Zenyatta. Turns out either Zenyatta is not the easiest character for a beginning player or I'm just not fit for offensive play. My first round ended with me getting killed really quickly. So... yeah, perhaps attack is not my thing. So I decided to play as Mercy.
Bingo. That's the one character that worked out just fine for me.

I obviously plan on using other characters as time goes by. I really like all support characters and maybe one day I may even try my hand with offensive characters. But for now, Mercy is just the kind of character I enjoy using when playing online: although I'm pretty much useless for attacking, I do manage to keep my teammates alive for longer time. This is particularly satisfying in Overwatch, since Mercy can revive characters during battle, unlike the Medic in Team Fortress 2 (if you don't count Mann vs. Machine).

Another feature I really enjoyed in the game was the fact that you get to vote for the team's MVP, though I'm not sure if I'm saying this because I got upvoted in pretty much all the games I played. The fact that Mercy can't really become the Play of the Game character does bother me a bit though. I mean, c'mon, I got everyone's arses alive and well and capping (or defending) the points and Hanzo got all the credits. ('-')
As far as I have seen, the only way Mercy could get a Play of the Game would be if she was healing characters that were killing someone, so you'd get an assist kill (although I did read somewhere that the game does consider support points).

The best thing about Overwatch? Heck, I get to play as badass female characters!! It might sound like a silly thing and I am by no means criticizing the lack of female characters in Team Fortress 2. The fact that I have over 160 hours of TF2 does say something (specially if you consider that I rarely spend more than 50 hours in a single game). But still, it's so good to see so much diversity in a game!

Anyway, I'm still at the beginning of the whole thing. It may be that I just got lucky yesterday and my experience ended up being positive. I'll come back in a couple of weeks to talk a bit more about it again!
