I've been to many concerts but last Friday's was the most memorable.

Juan dela Cruz Band.

Watching the icon of Pinoy Rock perform a few feet away from me was unbelievable. They sang most of their hits and a few solo guitar instrumentals by Wally Gonzales. The man is a genius! He looked like he was just standing there holding a guitar na parang wala lang, but he was actually giving us one hell of a performance. Wala akong masabi.

And yes, Pepe is crazier in person. I'm not sure if he wasn't drunk because he looks drunk all the time pero panalo, wala akong ginawa kundi humalakhak dahil sa kanya. Sayang nga lang, I forgot to tell him I love him when I had the chance. Tiningnan nya 'ko at kinausap. Seryoso. There was a time when my friend asked me if his guitar was really working because he seemed like he was just there to fool around. Nakasaksak naman, mahina nga lang. Hehehe.

Among the three, Mike Hanopol was the quiet one. I didn't see him smile or laugh at Pepe's antics. He talks when necessary but most of the time hindi. Pero ang gitara ha, wala talagang ulo. Pano kaya tinotono yon?

Special guests include Up Dharma Down and Sugarfree. Sugarfree!!!!

The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and violinist Lucia Micarelli were also there. MPO did Hallelujah as their opening song. But their best performance was with Lucia when they performed Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. Apparently, Lucia performed that song several times in her tour. I saw a few videos in YouTube.

I was actually waiting for my most favorite Juan dela Cruz Band song Mr. Kengkoy but they didn't perform it. I know it doesn't fit but I grew up listening to that song, blame it to my father.

Hoy, hoy, hoy, Mr. Kengkoy
Bakit ka nangangamoy?
Hoy, hoy, hoy, Mr. Kengkoy
Ikaw ay nangangamoy kengkoy...
