Please tell me whatever you feel was important, Miss Estelle.

[Ah, very good. If she thinks it's that important...]

In person. Perhaps the library, if that is reasonable for you?

[He walks beside Astrid as he approaches the library. The horse is tired, but she refuses to leave until they can go back home together. Talk about loyal.

He looks around for the pink-haired young lady, wondering if she had gone inside.]

[He nods in greeting as he sees Estelle, but waves off the question.] It's just been a long few days.

You wanted to discuss what you had heard?

Deflections such as that are often used to include or exclude the one who is being spoken to. In this case, it sounds as if he was searching for your understanding.

[Assuming his conversation with Buffy has already happened...] This is analogous at best, but are you familiar with the idea of a holy war? The aggressors fight for a lofty goal, oftentimes the appeasement of a high god, and will kill any who do not agree with their terms. There is sometimes an ideal that seeking an enemy's understanding before killing them will 'save' them.

But I digress. This is about what you have heard -- not my analysis.

[He won't comment that that's usually the way encounters in holy wars play out, since he's supposed to be listening to Estelle.]

It sounds as if both sides, Malnosso and ... "outsiders," don't want to share much information.

What did he say?

"Finish" us. Like we are some sort of contraption they are building upon. And somehow killing Jacob and removing his internal organs is salvation.

That's a belief that I have thought of before. Once you are in this ... world's clutches, you cannot escape. But how would they know that? Even with all that this General had to say, it sounds as if there are limits to his knowledge.
