∞ 58: While the stars fall [action]

Jun 07, 2009 23:43

[After the shooting stars the other day, Albert has taken it upon himself to observe the sight from a much better vantage point than his house. To do so, he's gone up onto the roof of the school to look out in the direction of the mountains.

Anyone who's had the same idea can come on up and bother him.]

[After finally putting Genis to bed (and making sure he's asleep), Raine is finally heading out this way to join Albert, since that was the original plan. She stops her walk at the furniture pile, looking up.]

I suppose that's one way to go about it.

[Albert can hear the movements in the dark, and overlooking the town square has its benefits. He turns from the direction of the mountains to look over the edge.]

The furniture?

Yes, the furniture. I'm surprised it was stable enough...

[a dry joke] You're hardly a heavy person, Professor. The furniture can withstand your weight.

... Haha. [She shakes her head a little, but starts to climb up anyway.]

[Albert moves over to help her, waiting at the lip of the roof near the furniture stack. He offers his hand as she reaches the top.]

[Raine climbs the stack quickly enough despite her misgivings, and reaches for his offered hand as soon as she's close enough.]

[He grasps her hand and patiently guides her onto the roof, stepping to one side and grasping her shoulder to help her balance. His fingers brush against her newly-restored, non-glowing Filial plumage.]

Careful now.

[And after a few moments of effort, and thanks to Albert's assistance, Raine is safely on the roof, taking a moment to balance properly before indicating that they can step away from the edge now.] ... Thank you.

[He nods, his hands slipping away as he takes a few steps back towards the center of the roof. He turns his attention back to the sky.]

[She follows him, keeping her gaze level until she's in a better position to look out at the sky.]

I'm a little surprised that it's still going on.

When there are falling stars like this, it's typical to have two or three night of this kind of activity. I'm wondering if it's real or not.

That's a very good question. One that there may or may not be an answer to, depending on if anyone is willing to share information about it. I suppose we'd notice if anything struck the ground at all, depending on distance.

Of course. We don't know much of what's going on beyond the barrier. We could very well be in a simulated day-night system that differs from outside.

Supposedly it's climate controlled, so I suppose that's not too far of a stretch as well.

It's not very often that there's a sight like this, in any case.

It's never happened in my entire time here, at least. [He takes out his spyglass again, though it won't offer much magnification.]
