Babbling about work...

I'm into the end of my third month at my new job, and suddenly it feels like I've learnt a ton of things and how come it's only been three months it feels so much longer. :P And yet there's also this oh my goodness has it already been three months?

Just when I thought I was almost on top of things, today I realised I was to be the representative for an international treaty discussion in Geneva in end April. Actually I knew it for some time but I haven't had the time to even think about it, because I've been busy handling drafting for a major amendment for one of the laws. So whilst I've been feeling pretty on top of things (finished off drafts of 4 public queries on copyright issue, amended a paper on copyright issues and sent up to boss, sent latest version of draft legislation to senior with comments, met up with colleagues to discuss how to revamp the mentorship scheme and buddy scheme, did all the remaining admin for an upcoming case for the Tribunal...) I printed out the draft articles to be discussed at the discussion in Geneva, started reading it, and started sweating VERY BADLY. i.e. I have no idea what is going on. Again.

Which is mildly troubling given that I'd be going to Geneva alone. With barely a month to spare. Hmm. When I say "mildly" I mean "terrifyingly".

But it does seem to be the challenge to this job, and I'm glad, to some extent, that I've been trained for these types of throw-you-to-the-deep-end-without-a-float situations. That, and I'm also extremely cognisant, touched, and slightly worried that they trust a 3-month-old employee with such important tasks.

So yeah, my travelling schedule is now Geneva in end April, and Lima in mid May. Should probably plan for a short break in July, methinks, which would coincide with boyfriend's end-of-crazy-work-period.

...Is Geneva near Germany? Or London? :P
