Sherlock/Bennie improves my exposure to english music.
He was
interviewed recently by Graham Norton on BBC 2 Radio (Graham Norton... I recognise him from TopGear! Man, I'm so holding out for Bennie to be on TopGear too!) where Graham Norton played the song "Set Fire to the Rain" by a British singer called Adele in the midst of the interview. And because obviously listening to Bennie's Harrovian vowels in the morning is the absolute nicest way to start a workday, I've been listening to the track of the interview for the past few days and now Adele's song is stuck in my head.

It's really a lovely song. So when I walked past That CD Shop at Pacific Plaza last night (as I was wont to do on Wednesdays after Japanese classes) I felt an urge to go in and check out her album. Although they were out of stock of her latest album (I'd wait!) but I just thought it was hilarious that the first English album I'm buying after, what, years, was inspired by Bennie.
And now, Sherlock/Bennie apparently improved my exposure to world affairs.
This morning, I was reading the papers on how Kim Jong Chol (North Korean leader Kim Jong Il's son) was in Singapore for the Eric Clapton concerts, and was vaguely wondering which son was it, when I hit the relevant paragraph and immediately laughed and thought to myself, he's the "too feminine" one!

Fast forward to around 11:00 to get a blow by blow of who's who in the North Korean ruling family. 12:40 for where he mentions Kim Jong Chol specifically.
A++.
(Incidentally everyone should watch the whole episode of Have I Got News For You (HIGNFY) when Bennie was guest-hosting, it's just generally hilarious. The one I linked was part 2/3, parts 1 and 3 are here:

So yes, Bennie has in fact, increased my exposure to both english music AND world affairs! Not to mention pushed me over the edge to incite me to go London this year! Who said celebrity obsessionscrushes are bad for people? :DDDDDD
