I'm a Mrs now! ♥

Well, um so in case somebody's still reading this LJ (man, it's been, like...8 months since the last entry?), I have something to tell you gaiz :
I'm married! ♥
On 15th December 2012, I am officially wife to my (real & living!) first love, Mr Fitri :)
(That's him there on the right in the picture ^)
So...in case anyone's interested to have a look at how a Malaysian-Malay wedding is held,
I welcome you to browse through the cut below :3
Normally, the wedding day is where the nikah (or 'solemnization' in English I guess -- the procedure of officially & legally marrying two people together by religious laws) and reception takes place.
As is normal here in Malaysia, the nikah and reception usually involves two separate clothes haha.
One pair will be worn for the nikah,
and another pair for the reception.
And a third pair will be worn at the reception on the groom's side.
Normally the groom's family home, hometown, or a nearby hall.
Or the groom's reception can be combined together with the bride's, no problem.
Oh, a short story on the days/happenings before my wedding :
I am the first grandchild from my dad's family to get married!
And only second if counted from my mom's family :3
We designed our own invitation cards and stickers for our wedding favors :)
My close friends have wanted to be my bridesmaids since they knew I was engaged! :'3
Family helped with preparation months, weeks, even days before the wedding. ♥
Okay back to wedding day.
So the morning of THE day, everyone woke up super early, cleaned the house, arranged furnitures, get dressed, etc.
The make-up aunty was a bit late that morning though, so whe did what she could to prep me ASAP since the groom's side has arrived early that morning.
(And I swear, I hate make-up. Too much time wasteddd~! Gah.)

Truthfully I felt like crying when they're there :')
^ The groom, prepping mentally.
Here, the Imam is the one given authority to precede over the ceremony.
The nikah itself can be done by the Imam, or more preferably by the bride's father.
My dad was the one doing the nikah :)
^ So...the view of our house's living room that morning.
For some reason, I wasn't very nervous. Haha.
^ So here the nikah begins.
There's a sentence that the 'nikah-doer' (in this case my dad) and the groom has to speak clearly in order for the nikah to be legitimate.
It is the norm here in Malaysia that the sentence (or 'lafaz') is the one that everyone present will be looking forward to, and the groom will be very pressured/nervous during this time.
^ The bride.
^ When the nikah is done, and everything (signatures, documents, etc) is settled, the Imam reads a prayer.
By this time, me and Mr Fitri are legally husband & wife :'3
^ Malays have this tradition of exchanging gifts between the bride's side and the groom side.
The things that get exchanged depend on the bride & groom.
It can be as luxurious as an iPad or a pS3(which is getting more normal here, exchanging gadgets), to something simple like a book or candy.
The groom's gifts will include the wedding ring, of course :3
^ So in my religion, it is forbidden for a man and woman to touch each other if they are not married
(or not family members).
Only after becoming husband & wife can a man and a woman allowed to...do stuff like in the picture above. Haha.

Oh right, if you haven't guessed, the theme color for our wedding is pink. Yep.

They picked out matching clothes and even added the lace themselves!
(Well okay one of them did it for everyone but still, I'm so touched!)
^ Oh, the sampin that the groom wears here is from when my dad married my mom :')
(Sampin is the intricately-embroidered piece of clothing the groom is wearing here, the one with gold thread ^)
^ It's very awesome that Mr Fitri and my friends get along well together now :)
^ My bridesmaids!
They don't have any specific roles actually, but they do make me happy :)
^ ...like so :3
^ My pengapit (or something equivalent to 'maid of honor' I think)!
I've known her since we're in kindergarten!

After pictures and more pictures, we went and changed for the reception. This is when I will get into the pink theme, finallyyy.
^ This is the dais, where the bride & groom will be sitting on later during reception.
^ After changing into the bridal attire :)
^ ...they said it's 'mermaid-ish' lol.
Wasn't easy to walk in this, honestly!
^ Arrival of the groom's family!
^ The bride will meet/greet the groom outside :)
(Oh -- that banner there, with two birds kissing, we designed it ourselves too! ♥)
^ They call this the 'welcoming the in-laws', kind of :3
