Kumagusu : UMA and ticks & mites

Jun 24, 2011 22:34

This has been sitting in my drafts for...2-3 months, I think /headdesk
Today I decided to finish this up and finally post it here :D

- - - - - - -

Because I'm random, so here's another Kumagusu episode :)
Not the whole episode nor the whole segment, but more to interesting moments during the show XD

So, from Kumagusu 2009.02.06 --

UMA Kumagusu
UMA = Unidentified Mysterious Animal (kinda like UFO)

The Kumagusu, Yamaguchi Bintaro (in later episodes he's called Bin-chan by the members), researches/studies mysterious/questionable creatures from all over the world. Like tsuchinoko, Loch Ness and stuff. He brought pictures of these creatures and explained about them, sometimes saying that some pictures are only camera tricks, etc. It's pretty interesting.

But I'm here for the members' reactions! 8DDD

So there's this one picture of a jackalope --

Nagano : EHHH WHAT'S THAT?!

Ken : Ehhh -- ?!

Okada : Those creatures look like there's people in it --

Inocchi : What are those?

Bin-chan : These are called 'jackalopes', or in Japanese something like sand rabbits [ I think he said 'suna usagi', but not really sure... ]

Nagano : Rabbits?

Inocchi : Eh eeeh eh eh eh -- ? So they're small?

Bin-chan : They're like this big [ motions with hands ]

-- and then Ken was like :

Ken : They look like creatures from One Piece...

Them : They do seem One Piece-ish --

-- and Go giggled and said something but I can't catch it =3=

Next, Bin-chan showed this :

Bin-chan : This is what they call Big Bird.

Inocchi : They're real?

Bin-chan : There have been reportings from pilots who saw these birds when they're on the planes, so...

Go : Dude, those things are scary. THEY'RE FREAKIN' SCARY!

Go : Those things could've picked us up just like this! [ asdfghjkl; that was too asdfghjkl;! ]

Bin-chan : There are rumors that these creatures did do that to kids too.

Them : Ehhh -- ...

Inocchi : Where are these creatures?

Bin-chan : Probably somewhere around Rocky Mountains or so...

Them : ...whut XD

-- and some random moments :

^ Ken was mouthing "Duuude this is unreal!" to the staff :D

^ It's rare to get these 4 in one shot from this camera angle! 8D

^ And look how interested Okada is in this whole UMA-talk XD

Okay, let's move on to the next segment --

Ticks & mites Kumagusu

Takeuchi-san : Next on Kumagusu is this! -- ticks and mites.

^ Only Go was clapping (pretty excitedly) when the title was announced...

^ And of course Leader is, well, not too enthusiastic about this episode.

Inocchi : Uwaaahhh --

Nagano : So it's come to thisss...

Ken : Whyyy --

Inocchi : There's someone here who still hasn't said a thing --

^ The apparent fear on his face.

^ And the uncomfortable feeling just gets stronger as this episode advances >:3

So the guys asked the ticks & mites expert, Aoki-san (who is an actual researcher!), the reason behind his liking these creatures --

Aoki-san : I can't help it, they're too cute.

The rest : ...oookay.

Takeuchi-san : Aoki-san seems to have brought with him a few of ticks & mites, why don't we have a look?

You could've guessed the look on Leader's face when the sample was brought to the screen :

^ Oh Leader, I just can't with you sometimes XD

Aoki-san was explaining the types of ticks/mites he brought, and he did so with full interest and adoration to those creatures...which kinda borders on obsession and enthusiasm, saying things like "This tick is the other tick's friend" and stuff XD But anyways --

Inocchi : There's ticks and mites in normal homes too?

Aoki-san : Actually there's no place that's free from these creatures -- at the very least there's gonna be about 5-6 species of ticks in one homr; and there can be up to 20 species altogether.

Go : EEEHHH ~ !!

Inocchi : So if there's animals in the house, the amount of ticks and mites would increase?

Aoki-san : Yep, they would, with animals around.

Then he said more about the ticks, which I didn't catch, but prolly has something to do with the amount and effect of ticks in homes; and Inocchi went --

Inocchi : No no no no no -- there's stuff we're happy to NOT know about, so --

Then they proceeded to a VTR of the ticks and mites that were discovered by Aoki-san :D Apparently he's discovered around 300 species of ticks during his lifetime so far 8D

^ Shots like this are also very rare :3

Inocchi : Go-kun, are there anything you'd like to ask to Aoki-san --

Go : NOPE, NONE. [ flat out, straight out refusing to even think about it XD ]

Moving on --

Takeuchi-san : Next is, the good ticks and mites ♥

Them : Eh? [ they're pretty skeptical about this XD; ]

^ "The cutest tick in Japan!" -- no, I'm not making it up XD

How does it look like? DUN DUN DUN DUUUNNN --

^ LIKE THIS!
THIS IS THE CUTEST TICK IN JAPAN! ♥ Well from Aoki-san's point of view anyways...

Go : It's NOT cute at all.

-- if you've read my entry where I talk about some episodes of Kumagusu, you'll remember me saying that Go can be really direct if he's not into something. So you can see why I said that XD

Btw the three round things in that creature's body are the stuff that it ate, if I'm not mistaken :3

The next good ticks & mites is cheese mites (Wiki has a page on cheese mites, although I'm not totally sure it's the same that's shown in this episode -- but it's worth it to know it :D).

^ That's Go's face of disgust when a photo of a cheese mite was shown.

There's a type of ticks that eats nothing but cheese, and also makes the cheese tastier than its initial state. Hearing this good trait of cheese mites, Go's face went immediately to :

^ THIS XD

Go : HEH?!

The professor added that, the cheese mites are the ones who gave the flavor to the cheese. Like, it's because of these creatures that the cheese is super tasty. (I'm not sure if it applies to all cheese or certain types of cheese though haha.)

The cheese we're talking about, after being 'produced' by the mites, looks like this :

^ ...pretty qrotesque, right?
Their initial state is actually very smooth, very plainly-colored, btw.
The guys all went 'WTF NO WAY WHAT IS THATTT' haha!

^ While the professor was explaining though these two were talking about something;
and unfortunately their conversation wasn't heard well enough on air =3=

^ But Ken was like : "Haha, you DID that!"
And then Go : "Holyyy no wayyy what have I done~?!"
-- ...ahaha that's just my impression btw /shot

So, as they're in the topic of cheese mites, Takeuchi-san announced that they'd have the chance to taste the cheese that's produced by these cheese mites XD

^ LOL note Go X'D
Apparently no one's looking forward to this cheese-tasting session (obviously?)

Inocchi : NO NO NO THANKS.

Nagano : Aaah so we're thrown into this flow now...

In any case, they're given a sample each :3

Ken : What cheese is this?

Aoki-san : French cheese.

Inocchi : Ah there's the greenish thing on this cheese we saw on the photo earlier...

Aoki-san : That's where the mites did their work :3

Inocchi : So they were here --

Aoki-san : The little holes on the cheese were eaten out by the mites btw.

Inocchi : I SEE ~ !! [ the way Inocchi said this was really funny X'D 'naaaruhodooo -- !!' ]

Even though that might've creeped them a bit, they still sampled the cheese nonetheless :

Inocchi : It's good!

Ken : Delicious :D

Nagano : The mites are good! [ LOLWUT NAGANO. ]

Leader : [ to Nagano ] The mites are, seriously?

Inocchi : So this taste is entirely thanks to the mites?

Aoki-san : Yep.

Inocchi : Without them, the taste won't ever come out?

Aoki-san : That's right :)

After the sampling part ended :

Inocchi : This is reeeaaally something awesome.

Takeuchi-san : How's today's experience with ticks and mites, everyone?

Go : THE BEST. [ with raspy voice and made a thumbs-up to Inocchi, I think XD ]

Ken : At first though, we thought these ticks & mites are gross creatures, right? But after learning about them doing good things, they're actually pretty nice creatures, don't you think?

Inocchi : Yeah, and having an actual expert that does research on these creatures really helped in making this episode enjoyable!

Ken : We're very lucky to have met Aoki-san!

Inocchi : Our views on ticks and mites definitely changed thanks to you!

-- and so this episode ends :D

- - - - - - -

...since I don't like cheese (except for the ones on pasta), I have no idea how a slice of it tastes, nor do I want to taste the delicious product of the mites lol XD Although if I do get the chance someday, I'll prolly end up trying a bite 8D

As usual, corrections and stuff are welcomed!

Have a great weekend! ☆

A Reason to Smile today :
