Twenty-Ninth Ink Drop [Action]

[Miyabi didn't have much to apologize for, like any of the rest of people. For the most part, she acted the same, despite how she had aged and changed. Even so, the poncle didn't know how to feel about the change. She...had been an Envoy. A real Celestial Envoy, just like she wanted. And even the Chieftess of Ponc'Tan to boot ( Read more... )

[After reconciling with her captain, Matsumoto has gone to combine two of her favorite hobbies: drinking and sketching.

She's got a half-empty bottle of sake next to her and a picture is slowly starting to form on the blank sheet of paper in front of her - however odd it is to be doing this on a notebook and not in the margins of reports that she's supposed to be working on.]

[Hello, fellow artist and sake drinker! Though she's really not drinking said sake, and just staring restlessly at the large piece of parchment before her... Miyabi doesn't notice Rangiku yet, or if she does, she pays the woman no mind, lost in her own thoughts as her fingers trace some of the lines of the painting she drew when she was older.]

[Somewhat sooner rather than later, Rangiku has finished that jar of sake. As she goes to get her second jar, she pauses just behind Miyabi and glances at the painting.]

That's lovely.

[Miyabi doesn't respond, but when she realizes the woman was addressing her, she lifts her head a little.]

Hm? O-Oh. It's not--I...I didn't make this.

No? [That's an interesting response, and considering the past couple of days Rangiku has her suspicions but she is not going to let that stop her from asking about the simplest answer.] Was it a present, then?

N-No, not really... [She fidgets, and it's extremely obvious. Miyabi's a horrible liar, since she doesn't like to lie, but she really doesn't want to talk about that kind of stuff with a stranger, either...even if she does seem very nice.] I can paint but...not this well. I could never paint this well.

Aaah, is that so? [Rangiku pauses, frankly assessing the other, before smiling.] Well, neither could I. But that won't stop me from enjoying what I do anyway, ne?

I-I suppose... [Oh, but wait. Miyabi blinks and lifts her head, looking at Rangiku curiously.] Oh, are you an artist, too, miss?

[There really arent many around anymore, s-sniff.]

Oh no - I only sketch a bit, but I wouldn't call myself an artist. [And she gives the other a grin, wanting to draw her out of herself a bit.] You can come over to my table and judge for yourself, if you like.

Oh, I'm sure you're much better than you think you are, miss.

[She smiles, then edges over curiously, lifting her head. She really wasn't anyone to judge, but sharing artwork was always something she did with her friends back home.]

[Rangiku's smile is warm and self-depreciating as she tilts up the half-finished sketch of a fox, curled in on itself, eyes shut... and smiling. The basic outline is there, but she was still working on sketching in the fur. Still, there is something about the eyes that is astonishingly lifelike, making you feel almost as if they were watching you despite being closed.]

You see? It's not much at all.

...Ninetails approves that drawing. chiisaichou August 30 2010, 03:38:21 UTC
[Those eyes were what drew Miyabi in indefinitely. She shuffled closer for a better look, her eyes scanning every detail. It was good, and she liked it a lot. Clasping her hands together, the girl smiles brightly.]

It's wonderful! I've never drawn a fox with so much detail before. Hehe, and there are so many around here, I should have learned how to by now. You're really very talented, miss! I knew you were better than you said!!
