On the northern sea of Ryoshima far, far out into the distance, one single island stood, shaped like a grinning devil. This island, inhabited only by monsters and demons, was called Oni Island.
Every years, hundreds of the monsters would sail to the mainlands and plunder the villages and towns, stealing riches, slaughtering animals and burning crops, and also stealing away young maidens to feed to their king, the Demon Lord.
All those who opposed the oni were killed, and no one had yet been able to set sail to the island to slay them. For the demons had hundreds of thousands of archers, armed with flaming arrows, and every ships would be burned and sunk before it even got close to shore.
