Adventures with
willeke4439 !!!
Had the pleasure of staying with the wonderful
willeke4439 for a weekend and thought I'd pull these pics first while the experience is still relatively fresh in our minds! Check out her livejounral for a more thorough report!
Although the weather was cloudy, with breaks of sun and light showers, we still had a great time with our Plan B. You know the day will be awesome when you're greeted by a sheltie on your morning walk! Heavy pictures below the cut of adorable little Kana-chan.
D'aww she's so cute and good and gentle~
I didn't take pictures of Kohaku, their black toy poodle, but boy was he rambunctious for a senior dog! Can't imagine how he slipped out of his harness to go bark at his nemesis the papillon. I guess he must be getting some good food and air out in this neighborhood to be so lively at 16!
After our nice morning walk, and some tea and snacks we headed to Jinya! This ryokan was also highly recommended to me by another friend, so I was pretty excited. The day experience with onsen and lunch was so wonderful, I'm definitely considering the splurge for a night.
Let's cut to the beautiful kaiseki lunch and let the pictures do the talking.
Lovely little hydrangea garnishes and top of the line vessels!
Even the tray was beautiful @_@
Everything was super fresh and deliciously paired with our different sakes!
Interesting Italian fusion flavors with the croquette here. I like that the chef has room to be creative and play around.
I dislike eggplants, but this one was super tasty and the texture was perfect!
Our favorite sake of the day with salt to line your masu sake cup. The wonderful aroma of the hinoki wood also wafts into the sake and your nostrils the longer you leave it. 3 ways to enjoy your sake!
Omnomnom fresh bamboo dug from their garden~ And a very healthy portion of rice that lasted us an unbelievable 3 meals XD
Nice mango and tea to finish the best meal of our trip!
Mt. Oyama boar nabe the next day! It felt like no matter how much we ate, there was still more! Great portion for three people with lots of meat and fresh yummy vegetables. Haha, luckily one of us likes leeks :P
*drools* It looks so warm and inviting! Luckily it was a perfect day for nabe!
Pics and report of the Natsume Yuujinchou Hakusensha cafe and the rest of my trip to follow at some point!
