•One•

Inoo twiddled his thumbs as he waited for the rest of the HSJ members to leave. He wanted to hear a certain someone confess, and he didn’t want to waste this perfect opportunity.

Finally, Chinen and Morimoto left after Inoo promised to buy them ice cream the next morning. Gathering all his courage, he made his way to the last boy in the room.

“Hey Keito,”

The boy looked up from his bag. “Hello Inoo-kun. Do you need anything?” Inoo leaned against the wall and pretended to look indifferent. “Not much,”

“Hmm… Okay,” Keito’s attention returned to his things.

Inoo quickly moved from his spot against the wall to Keito’s side. Setting his lips at level with Keito’s right ear, he breathed, “So you like Hikaru-kun, eh?”

Keito’s eyes widened and he jumped, blushing 15 types of red. Inoo gave him a smug smile.

“Knew it,” he laughed. “Don’t worry, we have that in common,”

Keito’s embarrassment turned into confusion. Inoo sat on the floor and faced him.

“What do you like about him?”

Swallowing past the lump in his throat, Keito answered. “His---quirkiness…?”

“Eh? I was drawn by his eyes; so deep… Whenever I look into them, I just get sucked in,”

“I see,” said Keito, spacing out.

“That’s it?”

“I-I like Hikaru-kun’s eyes too,”

Inoo laughed, “Yeah, and that idiotic grin of his-“

“-makes you want to punch him silly,” they said together. Inoo laughed and put his arm on Keito’s shoulder.

“Y’know, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship,”

“KEITOOOOOOO!” yelled Inoo. He found the boy in his dressing room, earphones plugged in.

“Ne, ne, ne, Keito-kun!” Inoo persisted. Keito took the earphones out of his ears and asked. Inoo waved a bunch of papers in his face.

“I found this great singer on the web and I simply got hooked! Problem is, she’s American, so could you translate these lyrics for me?”

Keito took the sheets from Inoo and scanned it. “Ehh… I’m not so sure about this, Inoo-kun,”

“Oh come on! Please?”

Keito stared into Inoo’s eager eyes and sighed.

“Okay, but it’s only because I know you’re mature enough to choose,”

Grudgingly, he translated the first song from a long list of Lady Gaga songs.

•Three•

Keito pulled his cap over his head. After bidding his father goodbye, he walked out into a Sunday afternoon drizzle. He looked up at the sky. Not bothering to get an umbrella, he walked down the front porch steps, not noticing the thin figure standing under the shade of a tree.

“Keito-kun!”

Keito lifted his head. “Inoo-kun, what are you doing here?”

Inoo skipped over to him and protected them both under an umbrella.

“Let’s walk to practice together!”

Keito laughed. “Thought you’d never ask.”

•Four•

Inoo stared at a cookbook, drooling all over the pages. His stomach growled particularly loud when he reached the dessert section. He was at practice, but he hasn’t eaten since morning due to schoolwork.

And now I’ll collapse before they even call us out,

A moment later, Keito passed by. When he glanced at Inoo, his eyes were spiraling and he looked paler than ever. Hurriedly, he left the room as Inoo started to drift off to sleep. But before he completely dozed off, he looked up to see Keito handing him his coat.

“Wha-?”

“Let’s eat out, Inoo-kun. My treat,” he said.

“But- We have practice,”

Keito smiled shyly. “I’d rather get killed by Johnny-san than see you like this,”

Inoo took his coat and happily stood up. “At least we’ll die together,”

•Five•

Inoo lay down on the cool grass in the former’s backyard. It was a wonderful day; the sun was not too hot and the wind was perfect. Enjoying the cool breeze, Inoo smiled at his companion.

“Keito, is England as fun as this?”

Keito blinked a couple of times before answering. “It-it’s a great place. People are nice, the weather’s cool and stuff,”

Inoo laughed. “Not that, your life there, what was it like?”

“Uhm… I like school,” he paused, “School is fun,”

Inoo heaved a contented sigh, “Haaah~ Keito-kun, you must have a million great friends back in England, ne?”

A few silent seconds passed before Keito answered. “Maa~ I guess so,”

Inoo rolled on his side so that he faced Keito. The latter covered his face in his hands.

“Given the chance,” Inoo asked, “would you stay here or in England?”

Keito opened a space between his fingers so he could peek into the face of the inquirer. “Permanent residence?”

“No turning back,”

Keito covered his face once more. “Of course I would choose England. I love it there,”

“Oh, I see…” Inoo’s eyes became crestfallen. He faced away from Keito.

Keito sat up slowly and gazed into the distance. “Other than Yabu and Hikaru, and probably your dogs, you can bring anyone else along; the house is huge, y’know,”

Inoo’s eyes widened and he sat up abruptly. “You mean--?”

“Of course I’m taking you guys. If I didn’t it’s like I ripped out my own heart,”

Inoo became overwhelmed with happiness and tackled Keito to the ground in a hug.
