I posted earlier about my puppy going to the vet.

All afternoon when we'd play with him he'd freak again, seemingly randomly, similar to the way he did at the vet but on a smaller scale. He was fine most of the time but if we had our hands on his ribcage, even avoiding the injection spot, he'd growl and bite. He was fine if you petted his head, bottom or belly, but not his ribs. At first I thought that he was just reacting to the alpha roll, but he was fine when asleep or not playing, he'd cuddle no problem, and I could scoop him up by the bottom of his ribcage without incident.

He fell asleep earlier and I kissed his cheek and nuzzled him with my nose on the side, he woke with a scream and snapped in my general direction. I was concerned because I had barely touched him and have done this many many times before, so I began gently running my finger over his body, his ribs, bottom, head, everywhere, and every time I touched him on his right side he'd turn and try to nip. I would touch him somewhere else and he'd be fine and then I'd go back to that spot and he'd nip again.
Murry was fine before we took him to the vet, the only thing I can come up with is that the vet hurt him somehow when he was holding him down or giving him his meds. As Murry freaked immedately after receiving his shot, I think it may have been the way he was being held, and I'm sure the alpha roll didn't help.

I'm definitely going to call and file a complaint in the morning, but do you guys have any ideas as to what it could be? I'm almost certain it's not the injection spot since it's about halfway down his back and right side, and the injection was in his scruff. If it was the injection spot, would it be this sensitive 8 hours later? He didn't just whimper when I touched him with my nose, he screamed. This is the puppy that fell down 3 ft, landed on his nose, and just sneezed for a minute, while I was sure he had broken his face. He's eating, drinking, and pottying normally and is playing with his toys, he just doesn't want to be touched right there at all, so I don't think anything is broken, just bruised.

EDIT: Called the vet, I was a little worried because the vet I saw had the same initials as the owner of the clinic, but, whew, not the same guy. The receptionist had no idea what an alpha-roll was but she left a note for the owner to call me and put a note in the chart that we never want to see that doctor again.

behavior changes, vet visits, alpha rolls, fear
