March Egg Crafternoon

Spring has sprung! Let's decorate hard-boiled eggs!

Date: Saturday, March 24, 2012
Time: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Location: Alice's Tiny!Apartment - Located in Boystown/Lakeview East, Chicago
If you do not have my address and/or phone number, please PM me or comment with your email address and I will email you.
Cost: Free! :D

I will provide hard boiled eggs and dye--although you are welcome to bring some of your own--you simply need to bring your creativity. (Decorating supplies also welcome!) This isn't really a potluck like some of our picnics or other events are--my home is super tiny and we'll need all the kitchen we can to have plenty of space for dyin', decoratin', and dryin'. If you need snacks other than tea, please bring it with you or enjoy it beforehand! :D (I may also make some popcorn; haven't used my popcorn popper in a while.) Easter candy is welcome. If you have white chocolate Reese's peanut butter eggs you may place them upon my Alice-altar as tribute to the sugar gods (aka: me).

This is a messy affair! Be warned! We'll be using dye to colour the shells of hard boiled eggs. Although egg dye isn't dangerous for the most part, it is still dye. Don't place your most precious of prints too near to a table full of cups of dye--that's asking for trouble. Also, the chances of staining your fingers some combination of colours is approximately 200%. I highly recommend that you wear an APRON. If you're extra fussy you might want to bring plastic gloves to keep the dye off of your hands.

If you've been to my tiny!apartment before, you know the drill--we'll be sitting on the carpet, with my 5 chairs and 2 stools for the few lucky people. I don't have a couch/futon/etc. You are welcome to bring blankets or pillows for additional comfort.

This is also a great opportunity to bring any unobtrusive crafts, such as knitting, crocheting, sketching, or other small personal projects--I'm sure we'll run out of eggs to decorate eventually. There isn't a lot of space to "set up shop," so to speak, so save those large projects (such as any involving a sewing machine) for another time. Crafts or craftiness is not a requirement, though--this is mostly about relaxing and enjoying each others' company.

Allergy Alert! We have two guinea pigs. They eat bluegrass hay. If you have hair/fur/dander or grass/hay allergies, you may wish to bring medication.

I encourage you to:
• Wear something comfortable (and possibly bring/wear a functional apron)
• Share egg-decorating supplies, such as glitter, wax crayons, masking tape, and even stickers
• Bring snacks or drinks for yourself and/or others
• Bring a pillow/blanket to sit on upon
• Prepare to take eggs home with you!

Travel Information
I live near Belmont Avenue and Halsted Street. There are many CTA buses that travel to this part of the North side, and I am very near the Red and Brown line CTA Belmont stop. I would recommend using Google Maps to plan your trip. If you need more personalized help, just tell me! I'll do what I can to help you plan your route.

You MUST R.S.V.P. for this Crafternoon! My house is tiny and I need to know how many eggs to hard boil, which I will be doing in advance.
To R.S.V.P., please comment and let me know how many people you are bringing and if you are bringing anything.
