About the trip to Anderson Gardens, and Rockford in general...
Firstly, Ken and I just went there a week ago and it took us a little over an hour from Crystal Lake, but we got stuck behind two school buses on the way. In the past it has taken me 45 min-1 hour.
I just want you to realize that if you are coming from farther South/East, it will take a while to get there, so please bring something for yourself if you get bored or carsick easily. Everyone, make sure to each lunch before you head out, and bring a bottle of water in case you get thirsty.
Secondly, Anderson Gardens has very strict rules about photography. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to take photos once we are inside. Bring your cameras anyway, because I will make sure we have a chance to take photos, even if it is while we are stuffing our faces at Old Chicago!
Someone asked me what kind of clothing would be appropriate for the visit. Last time I went, nobody dressed up nicely, so I don't expect them to be too restrictive. Just dress up how you would normally want to present yourself in public. Old Chicago is a casual restaurant, also.
And of course, Old Chicago is our restaurant winner! I'll attempt to make reservations about a week beforehand, after the RSVP deadline.
