So yeah, I was kind of in over my head with relatives in Slovenia. In that I ate and drank non-stop for an entire week, except when I was being taken sightseeing. Really nice (although kind of crazy) bunch of relatives, and way more than I knew existed.
I was only intending to stay until like friday, too, but they kept on adding new plans - on friday you'll be meeting relative 17, on saturday you'll be seeing this town - and when I finally left on sunday they said I should stay another day because it was raining. Don't mistake this for me complaining, though.
Slovenia is a beautiful country - went up one mountain and found the source of a crystal clear river, then later in the week went to a massive park on the Austrian border, and climbed all the way up to where there was snow just sitting there. In summer. How arrogant. The 'cousin' who was showing me around said that, when we got to the top, it was the border with Austria, and that I was looking out on to Austria, but then the map afterwards seemed to contradict that. I hope it was Austria because it makes for a better story :P
I was a little sick all week, too, and wasn't really in a position to just sit around and get some rest so I felt better, so I booked a longer stay in Vienna (where I am now, dummies) so that I could take it slow and recuperate a bit. Which seems to be working.
Also young
de_chel happens to be in Vienna as of tomorrow, so I'll catch up with a familiar face. It is a funny kind of world, I guess.
It is a pity that Australia are sucking so hard at the World Cup, but I do have a couple of back-ups: Italy (since I'm Italian, don't ya know), Slovenia (since apparently I'm only Italian by a pseudo-technicality or something) and, my personal favourite, supporting an English semi-final defeat. :D
Peace out.
