Okay so Pias was pretty cool, although all I did was walk around a heap then check out the tower. But man, that tower, is some cool shit. Trippy walking up inside it, the steps are really worn down from heaps of walking, but they aren't always worn down in the center - it moves from left to right as people walking up the tower have moved with the tilt. And walking 'up' steps as the tower tilts you down is also pretty strange :)
Then I got to Rome, and no crazy train shenanigans like getting to Pisa. Simple trip. This hostel is a bit cheaper, and it shows, but it also has a free breakfast and free wifi, so I can't complain. And don't complain.
Rome is amazing. I can't get over how many ruins they have just lying around it. I mean, it makes sense, right, this is Rome. They didn't call it the Roman Empire for nothing. But like, they have shit in this city that in any other city would be a tourist attraction, and here is barely even notice because over there is the same thing, and over there is the same thing except ten times bigger.
On top of that they have the Vatican just hanging around, too. Like, yeah, why not? St Peter's Basilica was pretty amazing, fyi :P
Now for an amusing anecdote O_O I went out one night with a german and a couple of americans from the hostel, and in the course of things we found ourselves at the top of the Spanish Steps (without having climbed up them.) One of the americans had never sene the steps before, but the german and I had been there during the day. Neverthless, we decided to got to the bottom of the steps. Via elevator. Yup, the americans took the elevator down the spanish steps. Then we left without ever walking back up.
(Okay so we took the elevator because we walked into the Metro station looking for a toilet, but still. I can't ruin a good story with meaningless details?)
Anyway, heading to Florence tomorrow. Stay in school, kids!
