So I just finished a paper for my climate change course. Its due at 4:30 tomorrow and I still have ein Vorstellungsgespräch to write for German tomorrow. The work is almost over, I'm looking forward to the end, getting back to the lab and having a bit more spare time at home with my hubby and my puppy.
Not that I haven't spent an immense amount of time doing all sorts of random shit at home. I get so into doing my crafty projects that I lose myself for hours despite having papers to write. Last weekend for Lars' 30th Birthday party I made him a Guitar Hero cake and this fantastic box for donations towards his gift.
Lars loves Nine Inch Nails so we splurged and bought him the deluxe album set for the newly available online album Ghosts. It cost $300 + $70 shipping (holy crap!). I didn't think he should have to pay for such a thing on his birthday so I asked for a little help from our friends and made the donation box for the party.
Today I also learned about the biosynthesis of morphine. Alkaloid chemistry is very cool. In fact, humans have a gene that is capable of producing morphine although its not well expressed. I guess we're all related to poppies somewhere in the evolutionary chain. I still have to start my presentation for that class too, I'm going to be looking at the biosynthesis of hyperforin, isolated from St. John's Wort, one of my favourite mood enhancers!
Its past midnight, I should go to bed soon...right after I finish this White Russian, dude.
