It is 4:30 in the morning. I had a terrible migraine tonight and no medicine and I couldn't sleep. So I called my mom and she brought me stuff because she is a miracle among people. But now I still can't sleep and I don't really know why.

So, some things that happened today, a day (off) in the life of me...
Braedyn (the four year old roommate) told me that my hair looked beautiful. It was probably the nicest thing that has ever happened to me.
We watched Say Anything with Wellington and I realized that as much as I love that movie, it might be the kind of thing you have to see in your youth in order to appreciate it as an adult.
We have been watching X-Men or X-2 pretty much every day, including today, because Brae is really into it. It is making me really really really excited about the third movie. I am pretty into that shit.
I am newly addicted to getting my double iced mochas with an added shot of irish cream syrup. I spent the afternoon lazily drinking one on the patio at the Green Muse, and finishing the wonderful/horrifying/beautiful novel I've been reading, Here They Come by Yannick Murphy. It made me skin crawl and my eyes water and my heart beat. The book, that is. The coffee just made my mouth happy.
I bought supplies for cupcake making all day tomorrow. CUPCAKES!!
I did NOT go see The Fruit Bats, who are one of my favorite bands. I've been really crapping out about shows and stuff lately. I think having roommates that I love and an apartment that I enjoy is kind of a buzzkill for "going out" all the time, but I'm pretty okay with that.
I got a myspace message from someone who wanted to let me know that, although many of our other literary tastes aligned, they did not understand why I was a J.D. Salinger fan. I'm not really sure how to respond to that. I would like to just send every word of "Teddy" as a response.
I reread Lester Bangs' essay on the Van Morrison album Astral Weeks in the book Stranded, and remembered for the fifth or sixth time what good personal nonfiction writing feels like.

Lastly, anyone who lives in Austin who wants to go swimming with me pretty much anytime I'm not working between now and October should give me a call. I plan to try to be in the water as much as possible, unless the alternate plan involves a cold movie theater and mutants.
