Do you ever regret not going to college?
Not really. I'd still be willing to go if I felt the pull too, but my experiences with self-education and employment have been more enriching for me than I can imagine college would be, especially considering how much it costs. I (so far) have had no desire to pursue a career that requires a degree, so I haven't had to regret it for that reason.
What one experience has had the most influence on you?
I can't really narrow this down -- broadly broadly, probably having been homeschooled. A little less broadly, either dating the people I have dated, or maybe attending Not Back To School Camp.
Will you be my in-town penpal?
Yes! Email me!

When are you going to write that novel?
I wish I knew the answer to this. Since you asked, maybe the answer has to be "tomorrow"? You ARE the man of action, after all.

where is your favorite place?
Flipnotic's Coffeespace, maybe. Or, er, "the ocean"?
what is your favorite word?
Alphabet.
what is something that made you happy this week?
Seeing my friend Conor, who came into town from New York City. I even made Conor t-shirts I was so excited.
what is your favorite smell?
I am fond of the smell of horses (not stables or whatever, just the way horses really smell), people's hair after they've been running around, and almonds.
if you could pick any moment in time to relive -not to redo, just to experience again- when/what would it be?
Probably the first time I saw Okkervil River play at Flipnotics a few years ago, or the first time I heard First Day Of My Life at a Bright Eyes show, or something equally dorktastic.

Tell me about your favorite secret places in Austin?
My favorite favorite favorite is La Mexicana on S. 1st. It's a crazy mexican bakery. I love it. I also like playing pool at the Warehouse Saloon on Oltorf. I like the little area on North Loop that includes Sound On Sound records and Monkeywrench Books, although that's not exactly secret anymore.
Do you have any advice on apartment-finding, also in Austin?
Only that location is everything and that all the apartment locators I've ever used really suck. I always just look around in the neighborhoods that I like and call the smaller complexes directly.
Unrelatedly, left to your own devices for several days (weeks?) with no unreasonable obligations or financial concerns, what sorts of things would you do?
Travel and see bands, period. It's my favorite. I would be a professional fan if I could.
What is your favorite story to tell?
A really long story about me choking on pixi stix when I was 14. It's funny in spoken form but not-so-much in written form, so I'll save the world.
Do you have a representational/"totem" animal or object?
A few years ago, I would have said "dolphin" easy but it's been awhile since I've thought about it. I like sloths a lot.
