I spent a bit of time last night "tagging" my last 60 or so entries, so, for example, you can now see all
my song-related posts together. Someday, I guess, I'll go through the whole archive and it will be fun to be able to look at 4+ years of "sarah" tagged entries or whatever.
I am still at work. Tonight Nancy Pearl came to the store and talked about books. She is the model for the librarian action figure and the author of two wonderful little books, "Book Lust" and "More Book Lust". Someone asked about books that she's read where she's felt like she's lost a friend when she finished them, and "The Brothers K" by David James Duncan immediately came to mind. A minute later, she was mentioning it. I got really excited and clapped.
I realized when I was going back through my entries that I never wrote about the more signifigant events of the last few weeks, such as the BOOKPEOPLE vs. WATERLOO RECORDS softball, in which we lost, badly, but had a lot of fun. I think we won the spirit award with cheerleaders and screaming. There is a rematch scheduled for July, I think we're going to try harder to get the general public to come out, so I'll remind you guys who are in Austin. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town when we play Alamo Drafthouse. I was really looking forward to some shitty-movie related cheers.
I also never wrote about The Faint/Bright Eyes show, which was really fun of course but also kind of strange. It was the first time I've ever had to leave a primo spot at a show because of people's behavior. During The Faint all those teenagers went nuts. We were all shaking from getting slammed and humped by so many strangers. Ick.
I've been sort of neglecting the usual duties of life lately, so there's a lot of dishes and a lot of clothes and hopefully some of that will get taken care of before I go out of town. Hopefully hopefully hopefully.
If I was writing an acknowledgements section for my day, I would thank my mom first because she brought me a breakfast burrito from Sonic AND a mocha frappe when I didn't have time to step away. I would also thank my gator-head staple remover, www.last.fm, water, the color purple, and shitty scary dreams. Oh wait, not the last thing. Actually, that sucked. A lot. But everything else -- thanks!
