The Moment

This is it.
Time has stopped, and is waiting for you.
I am watching, waiting
Longing for you to say the right words,
I have replayed this in my head so many times,
What you might say, how I might respond.

We have been dancing around one another for too long, stepping close, so we graze each others skin
Stepping again
Then
Away
This moment might come at the wrong time.

You know I want you. You have seen it in the way I flirt, the way I look at you.
And it is not the crack of rejection I fear, that salty taste of loss,
No;
It is our friendship that halts me
Makes me stay my words
Because
What if you say yes?
What If we tangle ourselves in bed sheets, leave our clothes scattered around your apartment floor, and sigh away into sensations of bliss?
And I finally get to kiss along your jaw line, and you finally see more than just a hint of my cleavage.
What if that all happens?

Because then you know It might end.
And it probably will, because I have a husband,
And it probably will, because you’re a hopeless romantic

Do you think it might be awkward between us then?
Do you think, when we look at each other, we won't see what we had?

And now
These things haven’t happened
And now
I can still fantasize about the future
And the air is pregnant with possibilities
And I have given you an opening
It is your cue

What will you say?

This is my Entry for Decembers week one of brigits_flame. The Prompt was "cue", and I almost wrote some Next Gen fanfic, but then this popped into my head and I decided this would work better. Hope you like :)
