So Prussia invites himself over to Switzerland's for Christmas, with the plan of winning Switzerland over as part of a bet with Hungary. However, his biggest competition happens to be none other than... Switzerland's sister?
NOTES: I hope you all enjoy this oneshot! I totally had something else written but I ended up disliking it so I rewrote it. I don't know, oneshots are definitely not my speciality. Chaptered fics are totally more fun, haha. But I did enjoy writing this so I hope you reading it! Have a fabulous Christmas, you all! 8D <333

“So Mr Prussia, what was it you wanted to discuss with me?” Liechtenstein asked with a sunny smile upon her lips. It was after a World Conference and Switzerland got unwillingly dragged off by Austria and Hungary. Prussia knew it was nearing Christmas and he was seriously running out of time. Now that Liechtenstein wasn’t under the guard of her brother for once, it was the perfect opportunity.

Other nations were in the hallway, eagerly discussing plans for the festive season. Prussia felt uneasy. Germany had already made plans to spend Christmas with Italy and Japan. Romano had totally refused for Prussia to be there; apparently one ‘potato bastard’ was one too many for the Italian to deal with. Spain was staying at Italy’s place too, while France was planning to gatecrash England’s Christmas along with America and Canada. Prussia was extremely irritated by this. How could his friends make plans and not include him?!

‘Oh wait... that’s right... I told each of them I was gonna succeed this Christmas with...’ his cheeks flushed pink. Okay, he just blushed in front of Liechtenstein. Not awesome. ‘Ugh, Gilbert! Pull yourself together! I only have so much time left before the end of the year and I lose that goddamn stupid bet with Hungary..!’

“...Mr Prussia..?”

Prussia snapped back to reality at the sound of the young girl’s voice. “Ahaha! You have to invite me over to Switzerland’s place for Christmas, okay?!”

He was well aware that if Liechtenstein wanted something, she could convince the normally reluctant Switzerland to go along with anything. Hell, if Switzerland would put up with France bunking over for a week because Liechtenstein was convinced that she had to try lots of French cuisine, then surely he could stay over for Christmas, right? And Prussia was getting pretty desperate to have plans. As much as he actually disliked it, Liechtenstein was his only hope.

“Um... I’ll have to check that with bruder but I think that should be just fine, Mr Prussia,” she responded sweetly. “Though I never thought you would choose to stay with us,” she added as an afterthought. Prussia went bright red.

“Well, you guys were lacking awesome so I thought my presence would yanno, fix that?” Prussia blurted out as an excuse.

No. The truth was that he’d taken a liking to Switzerland. He couldn’t quite explain it either. How did it happen? In any case, Hungary somehow found this out when he was hanging out with his friends France and Spain. She betted him that he couldn’t win Switzerland before the year ended. They made the bet in July and Prussia had done little about trying to win this either. But if he won the bet, Hungary had to refrain from hitting him with the frying pan for at least six months! And that was indeed something Prussia felt Hungary needed to stop doing.

However, the biggest problem in Prussia’s mind was Liechtenstein. That ridiculously adorable little sister of Switzerland’s. She was basically the most perfect little goody-two shoes Prussia had ever encountered in his life. And Switzerland doted on her more than anyone. If anyone had Switzerland’s heart, it was definitely Liechtenstein. And Prussia envied that. He wanted to try and knock her down from the top spot many times over the year but she was always with Switzerland. It was difficult to try and get the girl out of Switzerland’s favour when he was always there with her. So this conversation now was a very rare occurrence.

“Is that so?” Liechtenstein giggled slightly.

“Cha,” Prussia waggled his eyebrows in what he thought was a very awesome fashion.

“Well, feel free to join us for Christmas Eve tomorrow then. Bruder and I will be home all day. I think it’s good to have more company around this time of year. Bruder may not admit it but he does believe in spending time with family and friends around Christmas,” she replied. Prussia wasn’t sure whether Switzerland even considered him a friend but he nodded along regardless.

The two went quiet - Prussia out of awkwardness - as they heard Switzerland grumbling as he paced down the hallway alongside Austria and Hungary. Austria and Switzerland appeared to be bickering again. Prussia did wonder often what went on between the two, but it wasn’t a big deal to him. Austria’s hardly competition in Prussia’s eyes, anyway.

“Oh, one last thing, Liechtenstein...” a grin crept upon the Prussian’s lips as he spoke.

“Yes?”

Just as Switzerland, Austria and Hungary came into earshot, Prussia declared to the girl, “As unawesome as this is, I have declared you my rival!” Liechtenstein’s eyes widened, unsure what to make of this.

Everyone in the entire room went silent. Most of them had the thought of ‘...Prussia’s challenging Liechtenstein... Why the hell is he challenging Liechtenstein of all people?!’

Switzerland however felt his temper flare. “Gilbert... Beilschmidt..!” He marched on over and stood between Prussia and Liechtenstein and folded his arms. “Why the hell are you saying such a thing to Liechtenstein?”

Prussia whistled, feigning innocence. “Saying what to her?”

Liechtenstein tried to go between the two. “Um, bruder..!”

“You were declaring my sister to be your rival!” Switzerland snapped, jabbing his finger against Prussia’s chest huffily repetitively as he spoke. “Why the hell would you do that?” Hungary raised her eyebrows and shot Prussia a smug grin. She tried to hold back her laughter as the Swiss scolded Prussia good. Liechtenstein’s eyes kept averting back and forth between Switzerland, Prussia and Hungary worriedly.

Eventually Switzerland paused to take a breather, which surprised everyone who had expected Switzerland to be capable of yelling at the other for at least another hour or so. With this moment to get a word in, Liechtenstein managed to speak.

“Bruder, I think Mr Prussia was just kidding around..!”

“Nope,” Prussia blatantly responded, not helping his case in the slightest. “But don’t worry, Swissy - ”

“Swissy?!” Switzerland flushed at this nickname, though he got further irritated by it too.

“Bruder..! It’s okay, really! Mr Prussia here just wanted to spend Christmas with us..! I thought it would be fun to have more people here! And maybe we could invite Miss Hungary and Mr Austria-”

“Hell no!” Prussia, Hungary and Switzerland all cried out in unison. Each had their own reasons not to be keen at his invitation. Austria had left the conversation a while ago however, to go join Germany waiting on Italy to finish babbling something to Spain and Romano.

Then Hungary had a sly grin. “Oh, I wasn’t keen to spend Christmas with Prussia here but on second thought~!” Prussia scowled at her. There was no way he was going to try compete against Liechtenstein for Switzerland with Austria and Hungary around!

“So long as they each bring their own food...” Switzerland eventually gave in sulkily. Prussia grinned at him appreciatively. Eventually plans were settled and now he, Liechtenstein, Hungary and Austria are going to bunk at Swissy’s for Christmas! Prussia wasn’t exactly pleased about others being involved in the arrangements but hey, he was going to take what he can get.

As Switzerland stormed off, muttering about having to stock up on even more food and drink, Prussia held Liechtenstein back.

“That rivalry...” he whispered with a glint in his eye. “I was serious. But yanno, you can give up now if you want. The awesome me is gonna win.”

“...What is this rivalry about, Mr Prussia?” Liechtenstein asked, with a rather upset expression in not understanding what Prussia’s intentions were with this so-called sudden declaration of rivalry.

Prussia immediately went bright red and got defensive. “None of your business!” he shot back and before a confused Liechtenstein could answer, Switzerland dragged her off with him. The Prussian sighed irritably. “Not awesome...”

Hungary watched as the blonde siblings left and then turned to Prussia with an amused grin. “What? Don’t think you’ll win? Upset that Austria and I are coming along too?”

The Prussian shook his head. “I’m losing so far. Declared this rivalry only today and Liechtenstein’s already a point ahead of me... Not awesome! I have to get better with this!” Of course, Hungary understood perfectly what Prussia was on about with this rivalry and sighed.

“I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Seeing as you only just started the score now... I’d say it’s on a one point tie so far,” she replied with a thoughtful look.

“How so?” Prussia questioned her with a frown.

Hungary turned on her heel to head over to Austria. “I’ll look forward to the day where you get it, Gilbert Beilschmidt.”

Much to Hungary’s disappointment, Prussia was too busy moping over the fact it took Liechtenstein to ultimately convince Switzerland to let him come over for Christmas to really pay attention to the point she had made.

0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0

It was the 24th of December, Christmas Eve. There was no real time specified for people to come over and so Prussia decided that 6.30am with a perfectly reasonable time to arrive! It gave him plenty of time to even and then surpass that score with Liechtenstein. He felt well prepared too, having actually bothered to pick out presents, a Christmas cake, Christmas crackers and so on! It felt unusual being this prepared. Yet very awesome. After all, not only was he determined to beat Liechtenstein and win against Hungary, but he was so going to win Switzerland over too! Which would be like, totally awesome!

Note to self: never bump into Poland in a shopping mall on the day before Christmas Eve ever again. He is contagious.

Then again, Poland did help him pick a small gift for Liechtenstein. Prussia was going with the logic that he’d win extra points with Switzerland if he was nice to Liechtenstein with him around also. Of course, the moment Switzerland’s back was turned... rivalry.

He raised his gloved fist and tapped on the door of Switzerland’s home. It only took fifteen seconds for Switzerland to answer the door. “Oh, Gilbert. You too, huh?” he asked with narrowed eyes. Prussia blinked. As much as he was glad to have Switzerland answer the door and all, he was hoping for a better answer. “...You’re the last one to arrive.”

“...”

“Well, come on in,” Switzerland told him rather huffily.

Prussia’s brain clicked into gear. “Wait! I’m the last to arrive?!”

“That’s what I said.”

“...Shit!”

Before Switzerland could scold him for swearing, he had a Christmas cake shoved into his arms and Prussia darted right past him and discovered Hungary and Austria in the living room, sitting on a sofa near the Christmas tree. Liechtenstein was placing many neatly wrapped presents underneath. Prussia glowered. Liechtenstein was doing a job Switzerland would be in approval of!

That brought the score to 2-0! Not awesome.

But why the hell were Austria and Hungary here so early too?! Prussia asked this exact question to the pair, with the former adjusting his glasses as the latter answered.

“Oh Prussia, you idiot boy! I told Roderich about the rivalry you were having with Liech here and insisted we had to arrive early to watch!”

Prussia groaned. “But I don’t want you and that aristocratic snob here!” Austria shot a glare at him.

“Then we agree on something,” Switzerland sighed as he paced into the room, still holding the Christmas cake Prussia had left him with. “Honestly, I had to waste even more money than necessary..!” Just as he was about to turn to the kitchen, Prussia grabbed his shoulder. “...What is it?”

Suddenly Prussia’s cheeks began to heat up as he forgot what he was going to say. “Uh... the cake..! I uh... shoved the cake onto you... Uh... I’ll carry it to the kitchen for... ya?”

Switzerland raised an eyebrow and shook his head. “No, I got this.” For some reason, Prussia felt more at ease with this rejection as the Swiss man proceeded to head into the kitchen. He slumped down on an armchair and made himself comfortable, only to be thwarted by Hungary’s giggling.

“Smooth, Prussia, smooth..!” she laughed.

“Incredibly,” Austria agreed, looking out the nearest window with a sigh.

“Shut up!” Prussia snapped. “Why can’t you two just go home?!”

“Mr Prussia, it’s Christmas. Please get along,” Liechtenstein requested. She received a glower from Prussia in return.

Hungary waved her hand up and down, clearly enjoying herself. “Oh Prussia, just pretend the rest of us aren’t here..!” Prussia rolled his eyes at this. Easier said than done. Liechtenstein got up and started heading towards the kitchen when Prussia zipped over to the doorway, blocking her path.

“Excuse me, Mr Prussia? I need to help bruder in the kitchen...”

Prussia shook his head. “Nah, nah! He needs someone awesome in the kitchen. Actually, on second thought... The women do belong in the kitchen... Right! I’ll fetch Swissy outta there and you ladies take over with cooking, yeah? That includes you too, Austri -” He suddenly felt hard metal connect with the side of his head. Falling to the ground, he looked up and saw the blurry figure of Hungary standing over him with a frying pan. Oh shit, he still needed to win that bet... “Ow...” The next thing he knew, a different figure was standing over him and this new figure hoisted him over his shoulder and was taking him out of the room. He felt his hands grabbing at something... something firm... and...

“Let go of my ass, Gilbert.”

When Prussia realised, he decided to pretend he still wasn’t with it and left his hand right where it was. Eventually he was thrown onto a bed and to his disappointment, now Liechtenstein was hovering beside him with an ice pack in hand. She placed it on the bruise that was forming due to the power of Hungary’s frying pan. He groaned at the pain. Also he groaned at the fact that it had to be Liechtenstein taking care of him, not Switzerland and his amazing ass.

“Ah, thanks Liechtenstein,” Switzerland mumbled awkwardly. Prussia glanced over at him and saw that he was bright red. Maybe the casual butt squeezing was a little too much? “Y-You’re always a great help.” Prussia gasped.

3-0; Liechtenstein taking the lead!

Before he left the room, Switzerland bent down to press a kiss to Liechtenstein’s forehead. A second gasp.

4-0..!

“I... I need to get on with cooking... I’ll excuse myself,” Switzerland announced, heading out of the room. Unfortunately, Prussia was too busy fretting about the score that the Swiss was already gone by the time he realised he was being left alone again with Liechtenstein.

“...Mr Prussia, can you please explain your intentions here?” Liechtenstein asked after a moment’s hesitation.

Prussia too, hesitated with an answer. “...I don’t know..!”

“You don’t know..?” Liechtenstein looked disbelieving. She was really ever annoyed, but even Prussia’s inability to have reasons whenever he challenged anybody was starting to grate on her nerves. Did Switzerland really..? She eyed Prussia up and down. “You’re being a bit like bruder.” The girl couldn’t help but giggle when Prussia whirled around to gawk at her for those words. “You’re both in denial, aren’t you?”

“No, no! I’m too awesome for denial!” Prussia choked out a laugh, trying to swat such a suggestion aside! “And Swissy... Swissy’s always denying something, isn’t he? Understandable though. I’d be denying my entire life if part of it was spent being buddy-buddy with that Austrian snob, haha!”

Liechtenstein rolled her eyes. “You two really are more similar than you realise,” she told him with a small sigh. Then a slight smirk came to her lips. “By the way, Mr Japan told my bruder recently about how in his country, those are close to one another call each other by their first name. Bruder’s so used to calling me by my nation name but interestingly enough... he’s stopped calling you Prussia.”

Before Prussia could react to this, Liechtenstein had already made her way out of the room. Prussia rolled onto his back and mulled this over. “Awesome...” he mumbled to himself before taking a pillow and covering his face with it. His cheeks felt warm. But the most important thing was...

Switzerland wasn’t making the effort to refer Liechtenstein by her first name. That should deduct a point, right? And the fact Switzerland’s begun calling him Gilbert definitely means something, right?

...3-1.

Awesome.

About half an hour, Prussia heard grouchy stomps up the stairs to his room. Switzerland flung the door wide open. His expression furious and his face completely red, he marched over to the side of Prussia’s bed and yelled at him. “You idiot..! I can’t believe you! Hungary told me about you trying to have a contest with Liechtenstein..! Why would you compete with Liechtenstein over... over..!” He shook his head. “You’re a complete and utter idiot..!”

Without another word, he rushed out of the room slamming the door behind him. Prussia removed the pillow from his face and sat up.

3-0..?

“What the shit?!” Prussia cried out in frustration. He leapt off the bed and ignored the ice pack slipping to the floor.

Then he rushed down the stairs just in time to see Switzerland shut the front door behind him. He turned and made his way to the living room; his sudden appearance surprising Austria into spilling his tea on his lap. But Prussia was too distracted to take a moment to laugh at that.

“Ah..! I thought you were resting up..!” Austria said, trying to look dignified despite spilling his drink.

“What the hell’s with Swissy?” Prussia asked, glaring at Hungary in particular. “I was resting and he suddenly rushes in and flips his shit everywhere!”

Hungary sipped his tea and set her cup down on a fabric coaster. “Oh. I got bored of Switzerland not realising that you’ve declared war against Liechtenstein over him. Wondered how he’d react. It was really quite astounding, wasn’t it~?”

Prussia growled at her. “I hate you, bitch!”

“Ahaha, don’t let yourself get two bruises in one day~!” Hungary laughed, trying to hold herself back from hitting him for that.

“But what are we supposed to do? Swissy ditched and shit and you guys are really not awesome to be around..!” Prussia complained, not even bothering to refrain from offending anyone in the room.

“He’ll be back,” Liechtenstein assured him, though she did look worried. Prussia stared at her for a moment, wondering why she wasn’t going after her brother. He didn’t think about it for long. After all, he had a score to settle. Without further ado, he swerved around and headed out the front door too. Liechtenstein and Austria were about to take sips of their tea when Hungary yanked them both along with her, saying that she wasn’t going to miss this.

“Elizaveta, do we have to..?” Austria asked in exasperation. He really was slightly annoyed at being forced to get up early just for the sake of watching Prussia have a fail rivalry with Liechtenstein. The tea staining his pants didn’t do anything to help his mood.

“Of course, of course! And anyway, I’m not worried about having to switch from frying pan to a rolling pin for the next six months!”

0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0

Prussia shivered in realisation that he’d stepped out into the cold without a jacket for warmth. He glanced at his feet, which sunk slightly into the chunks of white snow. “Aha..! Relax Gil, this ain’t a big deal..! Now where the hell did Swiss run off to..?”

He began pacing around, realising that he really didn’t know the area that well. If he recalled correctly, Switzerland lived in a different part of this town for a while. Prussia attempted to navigate his way around, only to end up going in a complete circle. Little did he know, Hungary was getting very frustrated with his current Austria-like navigating. Prussia sighed and went back to where he started, which was just outside Switzerland’s home.

Hungary dragged Austria and Liechtenstein to hide behind a bush with her. Liechtenstein begun worrying.

“W-What if Bruder’s already home? How would he feel about us all being gone?”

Austria adjusted his glasses. “I don’t think he’d mind too much...”

“Ugh! Prussia’s an idiot..! The point of chasing after your man is that you actually find and catch up to your man..!” Hungary complained through gritted teeth; the other two telling her to hush in case Prussia overheard them.

Running his fingers through his hair, Prussia remained oblivious to the fact he was being followed. He slumped down on the front doorstep to Switzerland’s house and contemplated going back inside to join the other three. Then he decided it wouldn’t be awesome if he went out clearly searching for Switzerland but returned without the shorter blonde man in tow.

“Argh..! This seriously isn’t awesome..! And I lost points... and I...” Prussia held his breath suddenly, unable to finish his sentence. Switzerland stood at the front gate. The two shopping bags he was carrying fell to his side. Prussia looked up and shot him an awkward grin. “Welcome home Swissy..!”

Switzerland abandoned the two bags and rushed towards him, tearing his scarf off in the process. “Idiot, what are you doing outside?!” He began wrapping the scarf round Prussia’s neck and tied it for him. “You were supposed to stay inside with the others..!”

Prussia held up one end of the scarf. “Your scarf has a duck pattern..?” He cracked up as Switzerland’s cheeks reddened. “Liechtenstein, right? Gawd, she makes you wear such girly stuff..!”

“It... It’s the thought that counts!” Switzerland huffily responded. Prussia continued to chuckle at this. “H-Hey, stop that..!” He grabbed the other end of the scarf and whacked Prussia’s face with it. Then he froze for a moment, realising that the only thing between his hand and Prussia’s cheek with the material of the scarf.

Prussia stared up at him, having realised the same thing. “Swi - ...Vash.” It took a moment for Switzerland to register what the Prussian had just said, but it was too late for response. He had already been cut off by Prussia pressing his lips to his own.

No. His heart was not beating faster. He was definitely trying to pull away, yes he was, he definitely was, damn, why couldn’t he pull away? His hand let go of the scarf fabric as he leaned in towards the Prussian. And all Prussia could think was that for every second Switzerland was kissing him back was most definitely worth a point.

‘Oh screw it,’ Prussia thought as he tangled his fingers within the blonde’s hair, ‘Liechtenstein couldn’t ever do this shit with ‘bruder’.’

Switzerland eventually decided he needed a breather - by which the score had become 3-20 and the concept of Liechtenstein being a rival flew out the window of Prussia’s mind - and so he pulled away. He gaped in shock as Prussia licked his own lips with a look of satisfaction. “Gilbert..! You just... for how long... uh... I... You... You...”

“We,” Prussia corrected him, twirling a lock of Switzerland’s hair between his fingers as he waited for the other to form a comprehensible sentence.

“You,” Switzerland insisted, “...called me Vash.”

“Oh, so we were this close to properly making out and all you can think about is your name? Leave it to you, Vash, huh?”

“Don’t make me shoot you.”

“You call me Gilbert, I call you Vash...” Prussia pointed out with a grin. “It works out awesomely, right?”

Switzerland rolled his eyes. He looked away and replied, “You’re not a nation anymore! So Prussia isn’t a fitting name for you!” Prussia sighed at this response. “What? It’s the truth..!”

“Whatever. You’re the only one who calls me by my name. It’s a way of familiarisation, right?” Prussia wrapped his arms around Switzerland, pulling him closer. “That’s fine by me; I like ya too.”

“Idiot..! Just... Just stop causing trouble for Liechtenstein..!” Switzerland definitely had a lot more to say than just that. But he felt overwhelmed. “And uh...” It occurred to him that if Prussia wasn’t lying, he’d have plenty of time to go over the rest of the details. “...She’s not competition. You... You’re different. Uh... A-Awesome?” Truthfully, Switzerland did always wonder how that word sounded rolling off his tongue. After all, Prussia spouted that word out any chance he got. “Mm. Awesome.”

“Yeah..?” Prussia’s face lit up. He didn’t even wait for the Swiss to respond, choosing to pull him down again for another kiss instead.

Yep. Life was definitely awesome right now.

Austria shivered. He wasn’t exactly interested in watching the scene, but Hungary seemed to be enjoying herself fine. Liechtenstein wasn’t quite sure what to make of it all. She turned to Austria and asked if he was okay. The Austrian turned to her, feeling as if he’d almost completely frozen over.

“Is there some way to... to get inside without being spotted..?” he asked, getting worried about catching a cold.

“There is a back door... but Bruder always keeps it locked... That’s the only entrance...” Liechtenstein responded, starting to feel the cold get to her.

Hungary simply chuckled. “Oh, I bet they wouldn’t notice if we simply walked on past~!” Liechtenstein and Austria could only stare at her. They seriously doubted this, nor did either of them want to try it. But they were freezing up... “Besides, I’m going to need a rolling pin to replace the pan for next year!”
