Well, this tournament seems to be causing quite a fuss. People can't seem to decide if they approve or don't, or their reasons for doing either one. While I agree that it does seem somewhat unfair to those who are unable to participate in a battle of strength and strategy, I wonder if we truly have any say in the matter. After all, none of us seem to hold positions of any merit or power here. I've heard tell of a mayor, and yet never seen her or any other government officials (save the meager law enforcement and judicial staff).
This place seems to be able to run itself decently enough, but where are the people who run it? What this town needs is a government visible to the people; it needs someone visible to address its complaints to, to negotiate with, to take the fall when things go wrong.
I don't believe there is such a thing as a utopian society that needs no government, just as much as I don't believe there is such a thing as a truly perfect government.
