Boyfriend and I are playing through
Too Human right now. We rented it last night, and are about four hours in. I am almost certain two of those hours have just been watching cut-scenes. Endless, endless cut-scenes.
The cut-scenes are very... confusing. The story is set in a world where an endless winter is closing in, but people are protected by the Aesir, superior beings who are completely teched out. We follow Baldur, an Aesir who is brought back from the dead (maybe?) to kick some ass. He wants to protect humans, kill robots, and avenge his wife. He does this by zipping across the battlefield with a gigantic axe/sword/staff and bashing every robot in sight. I'm not incredibly familiar with Norse mythology, but I guess Freya is a huge slut and the NORNs are cyber beings who exist to hit on Baldur and cut themselves.
I'm pretty okay with the fighting. The mechanics are simple: the left analog stick controls your movement, and the right analog stick swings your weapon. There are a few more things you can do, like shoot a gun, or send a mechanical spider out to help you kill guys, but so far there's not too much complexity. This is also a pain in the ass, though, as you can't do much more than go through the motions in really difficult fights.
So. I'm withholding judgment until we get further in. So far they've just killed a Grendel (who was mostly a walking meat-grinder), and have introduced Loki. The visuals and designs are pretty nice, and the fights are still just mindless fun, so I'm willing to stick with it a bit longer.
