Merry Chrimmus :3

I had my first Christmas away from home this year. It was perfectly nice, although it was a little sad not to have a bunch of presents under the tree. My relatives opted just to wire me cash, which is thoughtful but decidedly different from what I've come to expect.

Anyway, my roommates and I started Christmas with a Rock Walk to the tree (see 300, Pirates of the Caribbean 3 for other examples of Rock Walks), and then we went out to see Alien vs Predator 2--or, Alien vs Predator Requiem is, I guess, the real title. I'm not sure what the aforementioned requiem was regarding, but that was okay. At the start of the movie my girlfriend leaned over and whispered to me, "Aliens on the ship! He killed your parents! Shoot 'im in the head!" which set an enjoyable tone for the rest of it.

I strongly disliked the first one, but I've purged most of it from my mind so I can't say what was so annoying about it. In this new one, they just try to kill things in a messed-up way. Did that 12-year-old boy need to die? Sure, why not! But, the pregnant woman having aliens eat their way out of her preggers belly? And then when they leave an alien in a room full of babies? Other than those scenes, nothing really stood out. There was a predator-alien, and he was pretty neat. The predator ran around and shot things with no regard for innocent bystanders, as per usual. Most of the fight scenes were pretty dark, so maybe they were really awesome and I just didn't realize it.

I guess I can say that AvP2 was inoffensive. I didn't feel any great thrill when stuff started dying but my friends and I made jokes throughout it so I wasn't particularly bored. I can safely say that this is a movie that I felt nothing about.
