Well the first 3 of many concerts on the horizon have come and gone..
1) Bad Religion
2) Tiger Army
3) The Misfits
1. Bad Religion
I meet Eggroll at Susan's apartment for a ride down to the concert, he arrives a few minutes late because his misplaced his tickets, but we still leave at a reasonable time. Somehow after picking up 2 more people, we arrive an hour and a half late lol. This is no problem, we only missed the gallows, which I didn't really care about seeing. As we pull in I notice the parking lot is unusually empty, I chalk it up to people probably coming late. We stand outside the actual concert area while the Briggs are playing and bs with Elliott and other people. After the Briggs are done, we head down to the front to get a good spot for Bad Religion. As the time approaches of Bad Religion playing, I notice there is still no one here. The place is really empty, but I have no problem with that. Bad Religion played very well, and played nearly every song I wanted to hear. The only one I can think of that I wanted to hear that they did not play was Sowing the Seeds of Utopia. Eggroll ended up jacking some girl in the face pretty badly, later we examined his arm and found some tooth imprints in it. He must have fucked that girl up. In the pit I saw someone who knew who I was, but I have no clue who they were. They were definitely yelling at me because they yelled my full name, Justin George. I can only assume it was some random magic player. I also saw my friend's prom date, who later on at prom ended up clinging onto me. We did not talk, never really had the situation to have a conversation.
2. Tiger Army
Again we end up coming to the concert late, but none of us really had any urge to see the Static Age. This concert I ended up getting free tickets, as did Susan and her sister. Susan's sister won tickets on the radio, and a mutual friend of ours ended up getting me free tickets to the concert. This concert was in the small area of the Agora, right next to the bar. I guess because it was a Wednesday they gave us the small area. The Street Dogs were really good, I wasn't impressed by their music on their myspace page, but they definitely were good in person. They had a lot of energy, and they were Bostonians, so they were messing with us about the Red Sox. It definitely got the crowd into it, and they had a good set. Tiger Army was the main attraction, and they did not disappoint. As soon as they started their set, their bass player started bleeding from his forehead, we have no clue how that one happened. But he played the entire set with this stream of blood coming down his head. Man that guy kicks ass. They ended up playing all the songs I wanted to hear, aside from two, Incorporeal and Towards Destiny were not played. The rest of their set made up for it though, so I can't be too angry.
3. The Misfits
We ended up getting into this one free because Elliott works for Peabody's, so he got us the hookup. We just had to pass out some tickets for his band which was no problem. We really didn't see too many bands this time, and I'm kinda sad I missed the Independents. We mostly stayed outside and talked with Elliott, although we did venture inside at one point to see the Punkrods who has 2 of the members of Heads Held High (Elliott's band) in it. I was a big fan of them, I'd definitely go see them again. After a bit more talking, we ventured inside to see the Misfits, I mean Jerry Only. The place was unreal packed, Peabody's is not place for a packed concert, especially for short people like me. Jerry Only basically played every song at 3x speed, it was crazy. All these songs I'm used to lasting longer, were finished nearly a full minute earlier at times. Most of them still sounded good, but some of them were just terrible. Dig up her Bones was a noticeable disappointment. Until he got to the chorus you could not tell what the fuck he was saying. I even know the lyrics and I couldn't follow what he was saying. He also had some noticeable slip ups. I can forgive all of that though, he still played pretty well overall and got the crowd really into it.
My big problem was the crowd itself. It seemed like the crowd was divided into these groups. 1) football players 2) parents 3) N00BS. The parents were getting angry with kids whenever someone would push past them. They would get absolutely furious, it was awesome. Then there were the people you could tell who were new to going to concerts. We were all n00bs at some point, but the kids tonight, dear god. They would just start moshing wherever they fucking stood. They were too scared to go into the actual pit, so they'd push around people who just wanted to enjoy the music, and had no interest in fighting. If I was any closer I would pushed them the fuck over, I don't stand for that. Thankfully the guy behind me put an end to that, and taught them a thing or two.
Afterwards we ended up going to Sheetz, and I handed out some free Heads Held High tickets to a girl with a Tiger Army shirt on, certainly didn't expect to be handing out any tickets after the concert. I think I may have also set a record for ordering at Sheetz, it took me literally like 7 seconds.
Whelp that's the first 3 concerts, with quite a few more to come. Next one is on Sunday with Heads Held High and A Wilhelm Scream at some place called the Davenport in Parma Heights, apparently it's underneath an Arabica. :P
