SWEET SIXTEEN

Oh em gee, you guys. It's the sweet sixteen. The brackets are now all combined into one. Obviously JK Rowling and Suzanne Collins are ahead so far, but who knows where we will be by the time it's down to eight!

As you said, though, the specifics of the fight are extremely vague. Are they literally in a cage? Are they, perhaps, suspended midair over a lake of fire? Were the combatants allowed to collect information on their opponents beforehand, can they entice the audience into assisting, are they all handed rocket launchers or dressed only in a hospital gown? Must they fight to first blood, or to the death, or may they yield immediately?

Any and all of these scenarios would help or hinder one combatant over another, but we don't know which is true, if any. And I don't know about you, but imagining the scenarios is what makes this really fun for me.

(I like to think the Jo March vs Ginny Weasley fight fell out the way it did because they were in a tiny cage, and Jo fell on Ginny before she could get a spell off. Likely much hair-pulling ensued.)

I vote Lyra over Johanna for similar reasons. Lyra could talk her way out of the fight before it started!

I vote Sophie Hatter over Lucy Pevensie because both have pacifist souls, but in a fight Sophie would be first to be the more ruthless, and her will-power based witchcraft (so powerful she was unconsciously affecting reality) trumps anything Lucy can do with her cordial or dagger (unless Lucy got help from Aslan, but it's not Sophie vs. Aslan).
