Where's the beef?

So if there's one thing that separates the governments of Japan and the US, it's beef. US is no longer imported to Japan because of mad cow disease, basically because US inspection standards are nowhere near as strict as Japanese ones. Case in point- today the school nutritionist announced before lunch that the beef in our lunch was from Kochi, and then she showed us a sheet that proved that it was inspected and shown to be BSE free.
This was explained to me by the new math teacher, Nishioka sensei, who is really cool. She used to work at Ti's school, but was transferred to mine. She speaks English really well, actually much better than my new supervisor, who replaced Nomachi sensei. My new supervisor, Okazaki sensei, has not used English in 11 years, where she worked at a school teaching disabled students how to take care of themselves. So she hasn't taught an actual English class or had to use English for quite some time. So far it seems like that will cause problems to arise during the next year.
Weird thing, too- today she gave me the plan for tomorrow's class, and the second thing on the agenda was "ALT explains Yosemite using pictures." So I assumed this was something in the book, and I looked at the chapter. No, the chapter was about using the internet, and there was nothing about Yosemite. So I asked her about it, and she said she just thought I might have pictures of Yosemite national park. Never mind the fact that I've never been there, or even to California. I don't even know anything about Yosemite, unless you're talking about Yosemite Sam. It was the WEIRDEST thing anyone has ever assumed I knew about just because I'm American. I asked her why she thought I'd have pictures of it and she just sort of mumbled something and said "okay we won't do that." It was just strange . . .

See ya!
