Saitama Chainsaw Shoujo.
A short manga about a quiet, ordinary high school studetn in Japan...whose boyfirend dumps her for the hot new transfer student. She cries. She mopes. Her best friend- a cloudcuckoolander who believes she and Fumio were European knights together in a past life and also believes that Takumi, Fumio's boyfriend is being targeted by aliens and hears voices in her head, tries to comfort her.
Then she remembers that she is one-quarte American, her gradnerfather was an American, and from an early age she was trained in CHAINSAW MARTIAL ARTS. No, I am not making this up.
She freaks the fuck out, gets her old chainsaw out, booby traps the school, and proceeds to kill her way to her boyfriend. While in her uniform. Covered in blood. She even kills her best friend.
But she can't kill Takumi. So she tries to kill the transfer student...who really is an alien trying to use Takumi, and turns into Fumio to fight her wth her own chainsaw fu.
Then Fumio wakes up. The students she killed were not real. Takumi was kidnapped by the alien. Bizarrely enough, no one seems bothered by what just happens and there's no evidence besides a hole in the wall and a crater outside.
Fumio is grasteful to her best friend, but decides nothing is more importunate than Takumi (who was fine with being chainsawed to death earlier) and goes after him.
Oh, god, it is AWESOME.
But there are way too many plot points. Like, what is up with Kaoruko? She's apparently either mentally disturbed or psychic, she hears voices in her head, she actually believes she and Fumio are reincarnated knights from Europe in a stunning display of history fail, and her idea of comfort is telling Fumio that the trasnfer student is an alien out to get Takumi. No one explains how she knows all this stuff- because, considering she was right about the aliens...possibly the manga takes place in some alternate universe Japan?
Then there's the fact that there are Chainsaw Martial Arts. Awesome? Yes. Practical? Considering the size of Fumio? No. Also, apparently this manga takes place in the same world as the movie 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', which is just awesome.
Why is no one bothered by the fact that Fumio kills them all? Granted it was an illusion, but everyone seems aware of the fact that she showed up with the intent to murder people and never seem so much as annoyed. Not Kaoruko, who actually appears to be slightly in love with Fumio, and not Takumi, who says he's fine with dying. How on earth did no one notice a schoolgirl with a chainsaw in the street? What kind of grandfather teaches a little girl chainsaw martial arts from the Civil War?
Where the hell did the aliens come from?
God I want to write fic for this. Has anyone else read this? Is there a fandom? I must know.
Also, meme.
Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudocanon.
