Grad school & stuffs

Applying to graduate school is so much more time consuming and difficult than applying to college.  You have to do so much research to get into a counseling program because in your personal statement you have to show that you know their curriculum front to back, need it for your life goals, and have also chosen their school because certain members of the faculty share your research interests.  For most schools this is easy, but for the UNC-Charlotte counseling masters it is nearly impossible since their website provides little to no information on it's faculty and curriculum.  And I'm uber annoyed by them since they want my application 1.5 months sooner than EVERYONE else.  Oh well.
Much of my stress has been relieved though because when I spoke with the department head about getting a recommendation he said that he would have no problem giving me an excellent recommendation.  He also said that I should have no problem getting called in for interviews for all of the schools that I am applying to because my grades and academic experiences are so solid. =) This was super exciting news since my top choice, UNC-Greensboro is ranked 2nd in the nation by US News and World Reports for their graduate counseling program!!!!  They're also ranked 1st in the southeast by some counseling association that I forgot the name of right now.  So it's a big relief that I'll most likely be admitted there (since they don't require interviews).
I'm really getting excited about grad school, but still a little scared because I'll actually be counseling real people with real problems starting as soon as spring '08.  Eek!
David just got some really good grades back in his counseling class (best in the class actually) so his chances of getting into a good counseling MA program have improved.  This means we may be able to go to the same school, or ones that are within 2 hours of eachother (there are 4 different possibilities of this).  It'll be scary having a LDR but we think we can make it.  And we're also not gonna really worry about it until the time actually comes to make decisions about schools (around April).

Other than all of that grad school stuff, things are pretty laid back, not much schoolwork this semester since I'm only taking 13 credits and 3 of them were a half-semester course so I'm only doing 10 credits currently.  I'm feeling a little lonely on the friends side still, but that just makes it easier to be excited about leaving for grad school.  Oh, and all the roommate problems were resolved so now the fun is back at our apt.  And JMU might make it to the Football Championship Game again!!  GO DUKES!!
