According to the Guardian policing in England is to be privatised. I thought the police had already been bought by News International.

Hitherto it was only the Met, who have always been dodgy. (My Dad was a Chief Superintendent of Staffordshire Police, so I may be slightly biased.)

This looks nasty, but G4 already (tries to) locks up a lot of the prisoners, so it's only letting them do the rest. No doubt they'll be tendering for judicial services too, so it can be a one-stop shop for all your (in)justice needs.

I guess once you have accepted that the sole purpose of the criminal "justice" system is to protect capitalism outsourcing it to capitalists makes sense. Not that the police have ever behaved otherwise really.

I guess this is the logical conclusion. I mean, it's entirely in line with, well, capitalism. It did make me squint when I realized it was the Guardian and not the Onion.
