Eight qualities you think are awesome in other people
1. Kindness. I think people who go out of their way to make things less awful for others; human or otherwise, are awesome.
2. The willingness to debate; not in the "I must win at all costs" way but being genuinely willing to engage with ideas in an honest attempt to increase understanding.
3. The ability to sing or play an instrument really well. I love music but I have very little talent. It's a big regret.
4. Empathy. This is probably related to (1). It's the opposite of the sense of entitlement that so many merely lucky people have.
5. Curiosity about things. I like people who ask awkward questions whether it's about social and political structures or the nature of spacetime.
6. Courage, moral and physical. Somebody (George Vanier?) once said that without courage other virtues were useless because one would never dare to apply them.
