Obscure music

To celebrate getting my contact lens situation resolved (I'm back to 20/30 in either eye) I partook of what has become an occasional indulgence. The local HMV has a pretty much perpetual sale on the Naxos label of three CDs for $20. From time to time I use this to explore music I would otherwise be unlikely to hear. I took a class on Cold War film, and The Fall of Berlin was one of the titles we watched. I think the score was just about the only thing that I enjoyed out of the film. The part at the end where Stalin all but reunites the separated lovers (a young soldier and his sweetheart) and gives them his blessing had our entire class making faces at each other.

The plot summary didn't exactly make me want to rush out and see the movie despite having a certain fondness for Soviet propaganda.
