Never, ever post on an AOL message board. I made a post -- one single post -- at the
AIM Developers' Forum only a few hours ago and I've already received two messages from completely random people. And they were not about developing AIM-related applications. Example:
JD0546 (8:00:39 PM): HI
Evanpants (8:00:45 PM): Hey
JD0546 (8:00:56 PM): THIS IS STACEY
JD0546 (8:01:10 PM): HELLO?
[Note: I love how only 11 seconds pass between these two messages, as if I might not be there if it takes me more than 11 seconds to respond to a message.]
Evanpants (8:01:16 PM): Yeah, okay.
JD0546 (8:01:27 PM): A/S/L
Evanpants (8:01:40 PM): Where'd you get my screen name?
JD0546 (8:01:50 PM): AOL.COM
JD0546 (8:01:55 PM): BYE
Evanpants (8:02:03 PM): ...Bye?
JD0546 (8:02:14 PM): HOW OLD R U
JD0546 (8:02:17 PM): ???
Evanpants (8:02:19 PM): I'm 20.
JD0546 (8:02:24 PM): EWWWWWWWWWW
JD0546 (8:02:25 PM): BYE
JD0546 (8:02:29 PM): IM 44
If this continues I'm going to have to do...something. I'm not sure what. But definitely something.
