So I've accepted a Ph.D at Adelaide Uni (Psych) without even knowing what project I will do or who my supervisor will be. I'm going out of the country for a month and have a week once I come back to sort it all out before enrolment forms are due. It's good to know I'm organised for what may potentially take 4 or 5 years (out?) of my life. I think the problem is that I didn't receive an APA scholarship (extremely competitive and harder to get), didn't apply for a divisional scholarship (relatively easier to get), and didn't really have any particular research interest that's viable. Unless...
'The long-term effects of caffeine, THC, sleep deprivation, ethanol bingeing, and late-night felafels on sleep patterns, health, subjective quality of life, emotional intelligence, and sexual function in later life'.
Perhaps not...
Anyway, I shall finish with a powerpoint-style list of my happenings:
- Back at work this week after a month worth of holidays only to leave for another month of holidays on Saturday. Work is only for losers and people who wish to 'succeed'.
- Recently uploaded my recordings onto my PC. Now I can self-release an album like Cee-Lo did.
- Finally watched all of the Star Wars. I did indeed lead a sheltered childhood. But instead of buying figurines and trading cards, I just looked up wikipedia to pledge my Star War geekiness allegiance. Much cheaper and less evil that way. I can't help but think that the trilogy of trilogies (Star Wars episodes 1-3, The Matrix, and The Lord Of the Rings) somehow represents the trilogy of Abrahamic/Semitic religion (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam). That could be a thesis. Pity I didn't take 'theology and pop culture 101' as a course, though.
- Found a certain brand of vegie mince which works perfectly for awesome bolognese sauce. Some 'force' urges me towards the dark side of vegetarianism. Who are some famous vegetarians, again? Vegetarianism and socialism of the national kind sometimes go hand in hand.
Ah, it's so nice to pay out the vulnerable. The Jews, the working class, vegetarians, blacks. Now I just have to think of a witty line for those gays and feminists. There could be a thesis in that... @_@
Love, A.
