Anyone know why my high beams don't work?

Well I have my new car now, and its wonderful:)  Theres just one problem the high beams don't seem to be working ( regular and fog lights work tho ).  Like when you pull the blinker thingy towards you they come on, like if I were to flash them at someone.  But they won't stay on.  I tried pushing it towards the dash, but it doesn't move at all, almost feels like I could snap it if I push too hard, like something is blocking it.

My mom is calling the dealership for me tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone knew of anything I could do...

Any car people out there?!
