I think they're no more fucked up than the average family. I agree with crazybutsound wrt Papa's being hugely important to the family dynamic; you can't have Winchesters without Papa.

I think we learn most of what we know about John through observing the sons he raised. Like the boys, like John.

Also, he's totally Batman, brilliant.

Now we just need to know where the Batcave and his wonderful toys are. Maybe that's part of the reason he's been trying to keep the boys away. :)

Maybe it will turn out that's what Dean's necklace is - a sekrit item used to access the Batcave!

...and see, my brain is arguing their lair should really be under the Winchester mystery house. But that's obviously not in Sacramento. Stupid geography.

Well, I would think that the lair would be something that was built after their mother died. So, it couldn't be under the Winchester house, because other people have been living there, and might get totally suspicious about the strange lair-building noises coming from under their house. *nods seriously*
