Junior Year Slump
It's time to visit the college students at Little Hollywick University once again. They are starting their junior year, with the exception of Mia Marsh who was put on academic probation and is actually re-doing her 2nd sophomore semester.
Life in the dorms is never a quiet affair. There's always somebody getting on somebody's nerves, or gossip going on in the mess hall. But the students of simday 41 are enjoying their time at LHU nonetheless.
Dewey Dingle and Gloria Sheffield are still together, and just as hot and heavy as ever. You'd think the fact that Dewey has a pregnant ex-girlfriend living right down the street would kind of put a damper on their relationship. Especially seeing as how that pregnant ex-girlfriend is actually Gloria's best friend, Mia Marsh.
But Dewey and Gloria spend so much time together that Gloria's grades are really slipping. She was never an A student, but now she's lucky if she passes her classes at all. Her poor GPA of 2.2 can't take much more. But every time she sits down to do her schoolwork, her mind wanders to other more pleasant things.
Her dormmate, Roger Belby, works as a student tutor as an extracurricular activity for the university and he talks her into signing up for study sessions with him.
He sets up regular tutoring sessions with Gloria in the campus library and it goes really well at first. But by mid-semester Gloria is getting really tired of all this studying. She'd much rather be doing fun college things.
Speaking of extracurricular activities, Stuart Downie chose to work for the university as well, only his job is a little more adventurous than just tutoring students in the library. Stuart is a member of the Campus Security. He spends his work time walking around campus and making sure nothing funny is going on. Stuart wants to join the SCIA when he graduates, so he figures this is good experience for him.
The riff-raff around campus learn really quick that you don't mess with Stuart Downie!
Dewey Dingle took a totally different view on extracurricular activities. Dewey decided to join a fraternity when he heard about their awesome keg parties. While he doesn't live in the frat house, he still spends a lot of time there with his brothers...doing studious things of course. This has definitely contributed to the decline of his GPA.
And then there's Ella Clock. Ella has dreams of entering politics when she graduates, so the student government was a natural choice for her. Her brother, Max, was active with the student government during his stay at LHU, and was even the president during his senior year. Ella has been working really hard to follow in his footsteps, but her flirting and complimenting strategy only seems to work on the guys!
Ella's still dating Jimmy Phoenix these days. The pregnancy of her friend Mia Marsh during their freshman year really scared the bejeebies out of her, so she has really taken things slow with Jimmy.
They've been dating for almost 2 years now, and Ella has finally given in. Ella and Jimmy have their first woohoo on simday 41! Even though it wasn't Ella's very first time (she gave that away to Dewey Dingle on simday 39), it was still very special!
Extremely special. Even on birth control Ella manages to get herself knocked up on her very first woohoo with Jimmy! He must be extremely potent! It looks like she really is trying to follow in her brother's footsteps. Max and his girlfriend had twins during their time in college and had another baby on the way before they graduated!
So Ella soon found out that she was expecting. She's hiding it for now, and she doesn't want to tell anybody until she starts to show. At least she won't have to give birth while still in college, like her friend Mia. Ella is due on simday 44.
As for Gloria, you would think having a personal tutor living right there in your dorm would help her pull her grades up. But she just didn't want to do it. She would rather be partying with her friends or making out with her boyfriend. She kept on skipping classes and failing exams.
She was placed on academic probation after their 1st semester of junior year, but by the end of the 2nd semester she had not pulled her GPA up at all. She finished the semester with another D and was expelled from LHU!
Before moving out of the dorms, Gloria stopped by to see her best friend Mia Marsh over in the family living units on campus. Mia was very sad to hear that her best friend had flunked out of college, and she was even sadder to hear that Gloria would be moving in with her sister all the way in the rural parts of Little Hollywick. But Gloria promised to come back and visit when the baby was born.
Then she just had to pack her things up and call a taxi. Her friends were very sad to see her go, especially her boyfriend Dewey. But Gloria couldn't help but smile. Her heart just wasn't in college, and she was excited about finally starting her adult life. She has plans to open a party planning business after she builds up a little money. In the meantime, she'll live with her sister in Little Hollywick and wait for Dewey to graduate!
With Gloria failing out of college, Mia really started to get serious about her schoolwork. She had been placed on academic probation too last year, but thanks to her brother and his girlfriend she was able to pull her grades up in time. She still has a pretty low GPA, but she's working really hard to keep it going up.
Mia's baby isn't due until simday 42, so she was very surprised when she woke up to awful cramping one morning. The doctors told her it was pre-term contractions brought on by stress and fatigue, and that she better take it easy or she might lose the baby.
She called up the father of her baby, Dewey Dingle, and asked him to come stay with her for a few days. Dewey has always stayed in love with Mia, and he's always wanted to be a part of his baby's life. So he was more than happy to come over and take care of her.
He made sure she got plenty of rest, drove her to classes so she wouldn't have to walk across campus, and even cooked dinner for her every evening. Mia finally brought up the conversation of Gloria failing out of school. Dewey wasn't happy about that and Mia got the feeling that Dewey and Gloria's relationship wasn't doing to well now that they lived so far apart.
Mia never intended for her romance with Dewey to start up again, but with him being around so often and helping her so much it was bound to happen.
Mia really did feel guilty about doing this to Gloria, but she did love Dewey first and Gloria was so very far away. Besides, she is carrying his baby and she's finally beginning to think she wants him in the baby's life.

--Students have to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for extra-curricular activities, in case you were wondering why I didn't show Mia or Gloria doing anything special. Both of them had GPAs below 3.0, so they didn't get to do anything!
--Dewey joined a fraternity because he's a Pleasure sim with a LTW to become a Professional Party Guest. Ella's LTW is to Become the Mayor, so she joined the student government. Stuart wants to join the SCIA, hence his decision to get a job with Campus Security. And finally, Roger is a knowledge sim with a LTW to Max 7 Skills, so he chose to help others learn as much as they can while in Uni!
--I cannot believe my game got Ella pregnant! Seriously, that means that every girl that has come through college has gotten pregnant except the Sheffield sisters. And even that, I think Gloria would have gotten pregnant with how frequently she woohoo'd with Dewey, had she not flunked out. And these girls were on birth control!
--I'm not really sure what's going on with the Gloria-Dewey-Mia love triangle. Dewey and Gloria are technically still dating, but now he's back to being romantic with Mia. He rolls wants for both of them, so I have no idea! I think Mia is his top ACR score, and he is hers although it's only a 2 bolt score. These Uni students always keep me on my toes!
