University & Career Guidelines

Apr 17, 2011 21:57

The first University update is next on the list, so I figured I should probably go ahead and hammer out the guidelines that I want to follow in relation to Uni and life after Uni.

FYI:  No pictures with this update. Just words...lots of words!

***This has been inspired by some realism of other sims bloggers in the past and present, and also the Prima guides were responsible for selecting the best personality trait matches for each career track/aspiration. I just heavily modified and added to it to suit my tastes and personal game play.***

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This brings me to a quick discussion of how I choose careers for my sims. I go down a list of criteria as follows:

1. LTW always has precedence. (i.e. If a sim has a LTW to reach the top of the Show Business career even though they are extremely shy, they still get to go into Show Business. Also, if the LTW is not career related but can be interpreted into a owned business, then the sim will open up their own business of that sort)

2. Aspiration narrows it down.
--Family: artist, culinary, education, intelligence, journalism, law, law enf, medical, nat science, ocean, paranormal, science
--Fortune: business, athletic, criminal, medical, architecture, artist, culinary, dance, entertainment, gamer, journalism, music, paranormal, politics, show business
--Knowledge: science, medical, nat science, ocean, education, journal
--Pleasure: adventure, artist, criminal, culinary, dance, entertainment, gamer, journalism, music, show business, slacker
--Popularity: politics, military, athletic, adventure, dance, education, entertainment, journalism, law, music, show business, slacker
--Romance: slacker, adventure, athletic, dance, entertainment, journalism, music, show business

3. Personality narrows it down further.
--Adventure: active, outgoing
--Architecture: serious/playful
--Artist: playful, outgoing
--Athletic: active, outgoing
--Business: serious/playful, outgoing
--Criminal: active, playful
--Culinary: serious/playful
--Dance: active, playful, outgoing
--Education: serious, outgoing, neat
--Entertainment: playful, outgoing
--Gamer: serious/playful
--Intelligence: serious, neat
--Journalism: playful, outgoing
--Law: serious, outgoing, neat
--Law Enforcement: serious, active, neat
--Medical: serious, neat
--Military: active, outgoing
--Music: playful, outgoing
--Natural Science: serious, active, neat
--Oceanography: active, neat
--Paranormal: playful, outgoing, neat
--Politics: serious/playful, outgoing
--Science: serious, neat
--Show Business: serious/playful, active, outgoing
--Slacker: playful, outgoing

4. OTH, Interests, & Interpretation make the final decision. (i.e. If it's narrowed down to music and slacker and the sim's OTH is music, then they will pursue the music career)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

So there we have it, my university guidelines. As always, these are subject to change and they are also not set in stone. I can and do change my mind quite frequently! I think that the next update will finally be the University update. I still have to play through it and add some things to the UH (University of Hollywick), so I'm not sure when the next update will be. Hopefully in the next day or two. As always, feel free to ask any questions if you should have some.
