So, I guess it's time for an update on my life.
Well, I'm working 3 jobs. Yep. Count 'em: three.
--- .1. Starbucks
-------- As if I couldn't get away from it. I am here again, serving coffee to crazies and raking in pitiful pay for the surplus of patience and deficit of sleep required for the job. Blarrgggh. If I could put in my two weeks, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Starbucks will always have a place in my heart, but for the rest of my life, I would rather be a customer than an employee.
--- .2. Art Teacher
------- So, I'm working at a Drama Camp this summer for two weeks. I basically tame the children with my barrage of pipecleaners, glittery things, and paint. We're painting the backdrop for this week's performance: the Wizard of Oz. Next week is the Jungle Book and my personal favourite, paper mache animal masks. Now, talk about some fun.
--- .3. Muralist
------- In addition to the two aforementioned jobs, I am now designing and painting several large-scale murals in Sam's Bagels bagel shop downtown. It's a really nice place, and the manager is a Starbucks regular (so I guess the Bucks is good for something, lol). He's pretty much giving me artistic freedom on the entire thing, and though only supplies are paid for, it's still a chance to get my work out there and known. I'm really excited about the opportunity!
Aside from all that, I still have commissions. And Andrew's website to design the BG for. And contest entries. And stuff for umm... me? And lastly, I have to clean my room. It badly badly needs it. But Artscape is this weekend and I'm pretty excited for my paycheck on Friday because it means SHOPPING (which is also badly needed).
Anywhoooo, I hope everyone else is having a good summer. August means going to FL with my dad for 4 days, then my 21st birthday (!!!), then the beach with Andrew (<3), which should all prove to be totally fantastic. August is a good month. And then off to school to see my wonderful friends and start my senior year, which is looming ahead like a big scary "get-a-job-or-else" monster that lives under my bed, and around the corner, and at my mailbox, and in the dining hall, and anywhere else my thoughts might lead me.
But one day at a time. Tomorrow is another day of camp, and I hafta hammer out a backdrop like a mad fiend.
And I would just like to say that I really like my boyfriend, and that he makes me laugh and that I like to hug him. [insert mushy moment here]
