Maybe this will help someone else?

I like that I'm learning to rely more on myself when I get mopey. I used to go running to my one friend, and I was tempted to do that on more than one occasion recently, but he wasn't available at the time, so I had to cheer myself up. I was a little upset about that at first (not at him, just at circumstances), but now I see it as a very, very good thing. For those times when I'm just kind of mopey and upset for no good reason, it helps a lot to joke around with my roommates or force myself to go out and get a change of scenery, despite the natural inclination at those times to hole up in my room with a bar of chocolate and a book. Tonight I was feeling aimlessly sad and no one was around, so I forced myself to go to a Late Night UB event. On the walk to the Union, I told myself over and over that it would be a positive experience, and I think that helped a lot. Once I got there and met my assigned teammates for Let's Make a Deal, I cheered up almost immediately. Meeting new people helps too sometimes, I think. We played games like Limbo, Tug-of-War, Dress/Undress (that one where you have to put clothes on over your own and then run across to a teammate, etc.), and Between Your Legs (pass a balloon from teammate to teammate using only your legs). Everyone won small prizes, and everyone got a UB t-shirt at the end. It was a ton of fun. When it was over, I met up with my friend Matt T, who was there for a poker tournament. We walked back to the apartments together and played Taboo with Ryan, his friend Laura, Ketan, Chris, Claire, and Ruth. We stopped a few minutes ago because we had been playing for a long time and we were all starting to get tired and weren't thinking as fast. Considering the way my night started out, it ended extremely well. :D

Also! I handed in the forms and money to go on the spring break trip to Jacksonville, FL with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, the same people I went to New Orleans with last year. We'll be building homes for people down there, and I'm really excited!
